I got yahoo beta two days ago and I still can’t find out how to check my mail directly from the messenger like how you could in the old one. When I do have mail no lil thing pops up saying I got so and so messages. Is this just something in beta and they might fix in final release or did I miss the button to check mail on messenger?
You can get directly to the mail page by going to the contacts section of messenger and then selecting “send an e-mail” it won’t sign you in directly, but it will bring you to mail. There might be another way, but I have yet to discover it..I’ll keep looking and let you know 🙂
Edit: Make sure you look in preferences that you have the box ticked send a notice at the bottom of your screen that you have mail.
Ok thanks. I clicked on the mail thing to notify me. I am still having a problem with logging in to yahoo mail. In contacts I right click and send email but it opens Outlook Express. I don’t know why. I think it might have to do with the installation.
It may have to do with explorer…see what you have as your default mail setting in your internet explorer options. It is probably set for outlook, I believe that’s the default usually.
Another quick way to check your mail is to click on help at the top, click on Yahoo Insider and at the top left it says if you have mail. They need to add a better way though.
yes, like oreo said…you have outlook express set as your default email for sending emails….to check this or to change it:
open Internet Explorer and click on tools/internet options
click on the programs tab
go to email and click on the arrow to drop down a list of your email clients and select yahoo mail as your default email service
then click on apply and close explorer ( should fix it now.)
