Is it possible to create a bot to be used in chat rooms on yahoo? not for advertising but basically to keep the room open ???
March 9, 2004 at 2:06 am #84217ShadowcrestMemberIf you’re an experienced programmer, you can technically create one that uses the Yahoo! IM protocol to connect and then join the chat (and if I’m reading you’re message correctly, just leave the program you made on…and the room will stay on.) .

April 23, 2004 at 3:06 pm #84218Qu33n_charlizeMemberhmmm…you want to create a yahoo bot? there’s already too many bots in every single game room, which is really annoying. And they all are for only advertising webpages; either porn or some stupid warship game. I remember years ago, yahoo game rooms never had bots, now because bots are becoming more easier to create, more people are using them. And most create new id names, every single day. So you block that id_name, than the next nite, you have to block the other id they made, its really annoying, especially those bots which quickly join the room, do there advertisement, than quickly leave the room, before you are able to block them. And the bot keeps coming back in the room, than going..ggrrr..it irritates me, and im sure it irritates other people too.
Anyway back on what you were saying, I guess there is no harm to create a bot, if its not going to be advertising or showing any website address.
June 16, 2004 at 6:55 pm #84221blackplagueMemberbots are anoying people might want in a room but if somebody has 200 bots logged in on it they can’t because of one person it’s ignorant and they will just get banned anyways so it’s time wasted I used to do that made booters etc. I dont know that’s behind me I do legal stuff now lol… but bots suck just remember that when you want in a chat room and it is full… or you are gettin’ pm bombed lagged etc.

June 19, 2004 at 11:37 pm #84214shifterMemberEven if you have a bot, you still need to keep it connected to the room through your computer. If you turn off your computer, the bot will log off as well. If all you want to do is keep the room open, register a dummy nick and put it in your chat room 24/7. This, same as with a bot, would require you to be connected to the internet 24/7 as well. A bot is just an account controlled by scripts to automatically perform pre-programmed actions. It will always need a host computer to run from.
July 16, 2004 at 7:26 pm #84220El DiabloMemberWell I seemed to notice a lot of porn bots that have response texts, and some IM you upon entry. I was just wondering if there was a way to get a hold of at least one of these bot programs? I mean, I’m not going to go around yahoo chats spamming everyone with my bot. I was just facinated with the response text.
July 16, 2004 at 8:42 pm #84215shifterMemberYahoo changes it’s protocols so often that its pretty much impossible for anyone to offer a free user-defined bot. The only ones who will keep up with the protocols are advertisers who employ programmers to create and update there spam/porn bots. There are plenty of other networks that have user-definable bots out there, so if your only curious about how they work, then check those out first.
