Hi there
I know yahoo updated the chat with that verification rubbish, but it doesnt seem to have worked which i knew it wouldnt, although i dont go in yahoo much, are the yahoo bots as bad as ever ?
Woc
I’d have to say the bots make up pretty close to 75%.
I take it back. It’s more to the 90% level. Just left a room that was 43 bots out of 47. It’s a real joke these days. Just as bad as it ever was…lol.
I use chat very regularly and have to disagree
The bot situation was far worse in chat before the introduction of captcha
However there are other ways for you the user to block spam in yahoo chat
Please advise on how to block spam. The ignore feature is useless when bots are entering with new names daily, faster than the ignore feature. I have yet to see any way to effectively block spam.
As far as the bots. the situation is just as bad as it was before captcha. A simple room count will validate this.
Some alternatives
[ALG’s Application layer gateways]
YTK Pro : #1 Yahoo! Messenger Integrated Companion
Y!TunnelPro :: The PREMIER Yahoo! Messenger Companion
[Third party chat clients]
Y!mLite Third Party Chat Client

…im sure there are more but thats the most kept up to date
You can read about them at Yahoo! Chat Clients

You can simply work around the chat bots by not using yahoo’s servers for chat. There is another chat server at yurechat.com that lets you chat, create user rooms, and you IM with yahoo messenger. You simply use your yahoo id and register with a yurechat password.
