I download Yahoo IM, and install it. Everything is fine. I run the program, and sign in. So far, so good. There’s the Yahoo window, all nice and shiney on the right side of the screen.
But as soon as I interact with the program in ANY way, it… disappears.
Program crashes, icon disappears from the quick launch tray… as if the whole thing were an illusion.
I’ve uninstalled and re-installed several times, always with the same results.
Is this a known problem, and more importantly, does anyone know of a fix?
That is definitely odd! What version of Yahoo are you installing and what operating system are you running?
Are by any chance running WindowBlinds or Alienguise as a desktop theme? These are known to make your messenger crash when you interact with them.
If so, set up Windowblinds to ignore Yahoo Messengeer. And well on Alienguise, sorry but there is no help there other than having to remove it.
Hope this helps. Let us know!
It was window blinds. Thanks for the help, seems to run fine once I unloaded window blinds.
You don’t have to unload windowblinds. Go to windowblinds and set a per application setting telling it to completely ignore Yahoo Messenger and it should work fine.
