Hello all..
I just came across this site n I would be really amazed if some1 finds a fix to my problem…My problem is that all students at college can’t log on to yahoo..but all teachers n staff can use messenger..The error regarding proxies comes..It say setup proxy or a similar error..Actually the network adiministrator has blocked our messengers…Can any1 help me??

SandyIts probably because the teachers have been given the proxy address by the network admin and hence they can login. You can try asking a network admin? But if its against your college rules, well, then can’t do anything about it.
Can you access the internet in general? At work I have a firewall but I can still log on by using the Firewall w/no Proxies or Use Proxies preference. Look to see what connection is being used in Internet Options and duplicate the settings. Type the Server Port & Number in your yahoo preferences and see if that works.
Well, you’re probably having that problem because the College has a firewall that prevent you from using any chat programs. Most Colleges do this because their purpose for having computers is to do school work and want to prevent havinf to deal with any conflict between students chatting and playing games and those students that need computers for school work or research. Most colleges and universities have implemented that policy in computer labs. Hope this helps!!
