MemberFor some unknown reason my Yahoo account and ID was deactivated last Sunday. At exactly the same time it happened, my friend also had her account and ID deactivated. One of our 5 Yahoo groups was also deleted at the same time. The other 4 remain but we cant access them of course.
From the depth of experience here, does this sound like something Yahoo does, or is it the work of some moron against us?
Either way, is there any realistic chance of getting our Yahoo ID’s reactivated?
Thanks for any advice, Sashaa.

Memberyahoo does this routinely. They deleted my email website and group. They calim they only deactivate if you have violated their TOS repeatedly. But I never did. I think they just do it because they can.

MemberThe same thing has happened to me on Dec. 24th. I first received an alert that my IM had been locked for security purposes, my password was invalid on the page I was directed to. Then when I tried to change my password, it said that my email account had been deactivated. Of course, I never used it to send spam, had used it earlier the same day & had not deactivated it myself.
I’ve sent numerous emails to their customer service & so on with no reply except those automated responses. Let me know if you have any luck fixing it. I’ve been pretty upset over losing my email account… Sorry I can’t provide any solution but maybe there’s something going around…

Memberthe reality of yahoo is that it hunts and shuts down anything to do with exploiting minors and im not saying you did this but maybey someone in your groups has and this is a possible reason for your deleted account.

MemberI suspect that someone ‘planted’ something in our group and then reported it to yahoo, causing yahoo to shut down the group and deactivate our id’s. Yahoo left our other groups though.
I have emailed the Yahoo customer care Advocate and will let you know what happens.
Personally, I would think some sort of chance to remedy a situation would be better than allowing any n’er do well from sabotaging a group.

MemberHi kimmi, The more I am looking into this, the more people I am seeing who have had their ID’s deactivated in the last week or so of December, it seems to be causing a lot more angry yahoo users than usual.
I starting to think that maybe Yahoo stuffed up somewhere. I just hope someone here has success in reactivating their ID and lets the rest of know how they went about it.Sashaa

MemberThis is a bit delayed. This same problem happened to me on 12/26 – before I knew this place existed.. I sent yahoo help a complaint and received a form letter in reply. The next day, I got an email from a contractor of yahoo’s with a questionnaire asking how had they fixed my problem. At that point, they still hadn’t, lol. It took about 3 days to resolve the issue and I only knew because I kept checking to see if I could log in. Yahoo never acknowledged they had fixed the problem or notified me that my account was available for use…..
