November 29, 2004 at 7:44 pm #106319OreoMemberOk, first, welcome to both of you. We’re glad to have you here. Second, your question is not a new one. You have to give your messenger account a rest, something like 48 hours other times it’s more. If you need more information, I’ve run a search for you using our search function Locked Accounts You can always use search…if you can’t find it in the upper right of this screen, it’s in my signature. Good luck and I think the rest of your questions should be answered in these past posts. 🙂

November 30, 2004 at 2:44 pm #106322wboopaMemberI think I may have downloaded a trojan that may have locked me out of my account? Is that possible? I read some of the post here and I am going to wait a few days before I try to log back into my yahoo account.

If your mail and other services don’t work…it’s possible you were hacked. Try contacting Yahoo! or try logging into other services. If you can remember the answers to your secret question, you might be able to get it back.
December 1, 2004 at 2:22 pm #106323wboopaMemberSomeone that I know speak to on occasion sent me a file via file transferon yahoo im. I clicked on it thinking it was a picture, of course no picture open. I remeber the file looked like a redhart. I figure the file was ok because it was from someone I knew, but then again it could have been anyone. Since then I have been locked out of my primary yahoo account. My other yahoo account I can access with no problem. I tried recovering my password and ID, that does not seem to work. I remember the info I used when I first set up the account. I had the account for since 1997. Is there anything I can do to recover my account. Can I call you yahoo or something? I did a search and found yahoo #’s but that is for SBC dsl service. I tried creating a new account with the same id, it shows its still in use. So that means the account is still valid. I remember setting up a challenge ?’s but when I trying to recover password it did not ask me the ?.
update I figured out what my alternate email address I used at the time, but the problem is the alternate email I used, is no longer valid. How can that be change if I cannot log into my account.
December 1, 2004 at 5:50 pm #106327DarkLightMemberDo you have ther right Connection settings? Firewall and proxies. Maybe they changed something in the Firewall configuration and you have to change the way you connect to the Yahoo servers.
December 1, 2004 at 5:56 pm #106324wboopaMemberWhat do you mean? That does not make any sense!. I can log onto my other yahoo account fine from anywhere.
December 1, 2004 at 5:58 pm #106328DarkLightMemberMaybe you are having the same problem I am having… what error message are you getting?
December 1, 2004 at 6:11 pm #106325wboopaMemberScroll up and check my post. My account got locked out, I have been trying to access my account. Trying to have my alternate email address change now because the one I supplied at the time is not valid. I for a reply back from yahoo, so my alternate email can be changed and I can change my password.
December 1, 2004 at 6:25 pm #106329DarkLightMemberI had that problem once too, I never knew how it got fixed. First I thought my computer was lagging, then I thought the network was lagging then I thought it was my company’s firewall, I could sign in on another computer but not on mine.
After a day or two I could sign back in. 😐 I’m sorry I couldn’t provide an accurate answer.
Just in case, try running Ad-aware with the latest definitions and try again.
