Okay, I’ve had this problem for about three weeks now. I’ve tried everything I could. I’ve looked around online and have found nothing.
Here’s what happens;
I open up messenger, but when i put my mouse over it or go to type in my s/n it crashes. It just closes, no error message or anything. When I put my mouse over it in the task bar after it crashes it does the same thing, just dissapears.
I have tried reinstalling more than once. I’ve also done more than one system restore… nothing helps.Hopefully someone here can help me. I’m stuck using yahelite for now and it’s not very pleasent for messenger, just chat.

Kari.My Yahoo has been doing the same exact thing. I’ve uninstalled/reinstalled Macromedia Flash as well as trying different builds of Y! Messenger itself to no avail. I can change my status from the top toolbar menu (Messenger-View-Contacts-Help) but if I try to click the quick status link just below it Messenger just disappears….same thing happens if I try to use Launchcast or right-click on a buddy. I CAN send an IM but that’s about it.
Currently I am using Trillian with no problem, and rolling back to the old Java-based Y! also works but I hate the interface…. has anyone got even the slightest clue what could be going on????Turns out WindowBlinds stopped playing nice. I’ve never had a problem skinning Y! before but it seems that was the issue. I went into WIndowblinds and excluded every Yahoo Messenger .exe file from skinning and reloaded Windowblinds,restarted Messenger and I it runs perfectly again! Yay!
I would just like to thank everybody for this thread. I searched online for help regarding my Yahoo Messenger closing by itself when I clicked anything in it. I reinstalled my whole computer…took seven hours to get everything how I like it…then it still was crashing!
I saw this thread and realized I had an Alienware desktop theme installed. It turns out it used a form of Windowblinds! I uninstalled that and Yahoo Messenger works perfectly again! Thanks soooo much, it was driving me crazy!
WOW! Ya’ll have no idea how happy I am about finding this out. I just started using WindowBlinds last night, and started having trouble with my Yahoo and AIM messengers. I was goin nutty tryin to figure out what it was… thank ya’ll so much!
I’m gonna try doin what JavaJitterz said… thank ya’ll so much!
