Yahoo! have finally released Their new Yahoo! Messenger Build to the Public
The Build is 10.0.0.1270
Available at Yahoo! Messenger 10
Direct Download: Available Here
Video: Yahoo! Messenger – Chat, Instant message, SMS, PC Calls and More
New Features:
Enhanced video calling Feel like you’re there with high-quality, full screen video and voice calling
Blog:
High-quality video calls
We’ve completely redesigned our 1:1 webcam feature (under the hood too). Now you can make a high-quality video call to a friend with synched audio, right in the IM window. Features include the ability to swap video windows, position the video windows side-by-side, mute the call or place it on hold. You can even go full-screen with your video call. To get started, click the new “Video Call” button in the IM window.Note that the friend you video call has to also be on Yahoo! Messenger 10. And these video enhancements are just for 1:1 video calls; broadcasting your webcam to multiple viewers (with no audio) has not changed.
Keep up with what your friends are doing See your friends’ latest updates from Yahoo!, Flickr, Twitter and more with the new “Updates” view
Blog:
New “Y! Updates” view of your contact list
People are busy these days, doing all sorts of interesting things online. To help you keep up with your friends, we added an alternate view of your contact list that shows a real-time stream of their updates, including Messenger status message changes. If they’ve opted-in to share their updates via Yahoo!, you’ll be able to see what they’re saying on Twitter, reading on Yahoo! Buzz, listening to on last.fm, and more. More about sharing Y! UpdatesJust like in the regular contact list view, you can easily IM a friend, start a video call and more, right from the Yahoo! Updates view. Or use the contact action bar to quickly find a friend without switching tabs.
We also added additional features for how and when you see your friends’ updates. When a new update comes in, a “toast” alert will pop up in the lower right corner of your screen. If you want to disable these, go to Messenger > Preferences > Yahoo! Updates. You can turn alerts on and off and even update preferences by contact or by type of update.
Improved language support Change your preferred language in Yahoo! Messenger with just a few clicks
Blog:
Change your language easily
If you use the U.S. version but wish it could be in your local language, you’re in luck. When you start up Yahoo! Messenger 10 Beta, you’ll notice a new language menu on the sign-in screen. Choose from 16 different languages and the buttons, menus and various parts of the interface will change to that language. If you’re already signed in, you can also change your language under Messenger > Preferences > Language (you’ll have to restart Yahoo! Messenger for it to take effect).New icons in the IM window
We also added new icon designs to the toolbar in the IM window, and you’ll also find specific buttons for video calls and voice calls.All-new Yahoo! Insider
For a lot of our users, Yahoo! Messenger is one of the first things they fire up on their PC in the morning. When they do, Insider is there to get them started. But we thought a new design was long overdue.
This new version looks a lot better and includes your Yahoo! Mail, a ton of news (Today, headlines, local news), weather, and Yahoo! Search (web, images and video). We even added a new Y! Insider button onto the main client window, so you can open it anytime to get the latest news or check your Mail or weather. View screenshotNew ways to sort your contacts
We added a couple new ways to organize your contact list. First is by recent activity which will list your friends with the most recent updates at the top of your list. We also added the ability to sort by availability, so if you usually show all contacts in your list whether they’re online or not, this will help bring the online friends to the top. Sort options are located in the drop down menu on the right side of the “Contacts” tab.As with any new release, we welcome your feedback about what’s working well for you and what’s not. After using Yahoo! Messenger 10 for a bit, go to the Help menu and select “Send Feedback” to get started.
Some notable User submitted Issues:
1. No “:” emoting in chat.
2. Voice automatically opens in chat.
3. Text toolbar automatically opens in chat.
4. Can’t use the up cursor to scroll between messages previously sent in chat.
5. In the ignore list in the preferences, if you select all, and choose remove, many remain left over, and you have to repeat.
6. When entering captcha, it can be very unresponsive.
7. After closing chat, then choosing “sign out” from the messenger menu, the chat screen may re-appear in a frozen state.
8. After closing chat, and then messenger, messenger may not be started again from the start menu, it must be ended through ctrl-alt-del.
9. Some ads will allow the ad window below chat to open to half the screen.
10. A horizontal scrollbar appears on the chat user list when unnecessary.
11. The last user in the user list appears incorrectly often.
12. The default user font is black in chat, but appears as a dark grey.Enjoy!

August 24, 2009 at 10:10 pm #175497ratsMemberI would have never thought the 10th version will not support Aero.
August 24, 2009 at 10:13 pm #175493DermotParticipantYeah i thought they would have natively supported it by now.
The skinning system they have now is terrible
10 is spurting out random pure virtual function errors on changing skins.
But i will report that issue also, the joys of beta software 🙂
August 25, 2009 at 2:08 am #175494imported_Ven0mMemberHahaha, I bet those issues will still exist with the final. =P
August 26, 2009 at 11:19 pm #175498SunnysideMemberCan you imagine the improvements that v10 could have had if only they would ask users what they really want?
Such as taking the ignore list out of preferences?
Such as giving us a default setting for “mute on” or “mute off” when entering chat rooms?
Such as fixing the “time idle” for names in a chat room name listing so it works correctly?
Such as giving us some decent looking skins?August 31, 2009 at 7:08 pm #175495imported_Ven0mMemberHere’s my infamous bug list…
01. Instant message windows sometimes don’t remember their size and location.
02. Part of the instant message window appears below the Superbar in Windows 7.
03. The text input area in IMs doesn’t remember its size (defaults back after you close Messy).
04. Taskbar item flash upon new chat messages (when minimized) in chat room hasn’t worked since Y!M 7.5.
05. You can’t disable the IM tips anymore.
06. The horizontal scrollbar that appears on the bottom of the chatters list.
07. When you move a window on top of the chat room user list, part of the user list is “invisible”.
08. When Messenger is minimized to the system tray and you exit chat, you can double click the systray icon and the chat room window will “ghost” for a few seconds before it closes.
09. The main contact list window doesn’t remember its absolute position on Windows Vista and 7 when you size the window on the edge.
10. Some instant message windows appear “small” and cramped – you’re forced to resize the window and exit it so all other windows will appear correctly and not small.
11. Entering CAPTCHA sometimes causes to become unresponsive (frozen basically) for a few seconds.
12. Random lockups upon typing notifications and IMs from some users.
13. The MessageFormat resets when a chat room or IM window “locks up”.
14. Chat emotes “:” don’t work in chat anymore since 9.0 beta.
15. Display pictures sometimes become corrupted (appear as a black image). Suggestion for this below.
16. File transfers will fail most of the time because the uploader’s speed is too fast for the client to handle.October 24, 2009 at 4:35 pm #175499gundalaMemberLatest Beta version :
