MemberOh yeah, it’s great, if:
(1) You want to view a 5inch high, flash ad for 10 secs before you can enter a chat room.
(2) You want to lose your offline messages as soon as you know you have them – see the other thread in this forum
(3) You want to use the mobile service, but this is US only (surprise surprise)
(4) You use Y!Tunnel and you suddenly want it to stop working. My view is that it is almost the same, other than the above.
I’m sure some will tell you it’s the solution to all your problems, and that its a security problem if you don’t do it, but my recommendation is stay with 5.5 for now!

MMM…so it’s really good then? JUST KIDDING! But the reason for them NOT supporting phones outside the US could a simple difference in systems. SOME of us may ACT like we’re ahead on SOOOO many things here…but the truth is we are WAY behind on cellphone systems! Ever try to send a text message to the USA? Usually you can’t (it’s changing NOW…”new” systems are coming in) b/c of the diff. I won’t go into details here b/c this is kind of off topic. But in Yahoo!’s defense (am I ACTUALLY defending them???) that may be why it’s not supported on the Beta.

MemberIt wouldn’t be hard for them to adapt their service for other counties, and who knows, when other countries get 5.6 they might get it. If it’s simply to send a text message there could be a central system that can tell which country it’s going to, and convert to an appropriate format.
I understand the difference in systems, this is why we need set standards, and companies to comply with them, but organising this type of thing on such a scale is a pain, and not something I would like to be responsible for. There is also the issue of cost. We also know some countries(they know who they are!) don’t like being told what they can do by others, and so go off and do what they like, simply because they can, and standards are just ignored.
I think too many platforms are concentrating just on the needs of US and are forgetting the rest of the world. And yes, we must also remember 5.6 is just a release in USA, just the rest of the world take their messenger because they get left behind! UK and other countries only just got their 5.5 recently.
