hi everyone, i was using yahoo messenger 6.0 from last 1 year. but now it stated giving me problem specially during chat windows, as soon as i enter the caht window for 1-2 minutes it displays the list of members who are in the room and then after that it disappers. meaning that member list window get blanks. why is it so? can anyone help me out.
then i decied to reinstall but the problem is as such. can anyone tell correct proceude for reinstallation without deleting the archive.
now i m behind the firewall so i cannot download the fresh copy of yahoo messenger 6. 0 from the yahoo site. can anyone tell me how to get yahoo messenger 6.0 fresh in other way. or can send me the file on my email account.
thanksWell first questions, first. In order to fix a problem you are going to need to do a FULL uninstall, which means going to add/remove programs, and removing yahoo from there, then going to your c:/program files/yahoo and deleting that file (if that is where you stored yahoo messenger. However in doing this you will delete your archives. What you should do is take your archives and move them to another directory, copy them over there BEFORE you unintall.
Regarding your firewall, if you cannot d/l it from yahoo, then you won’t be able to download it from anywhere. I suggest you turn down your firewall or tell your firewall to accept the connection from yahoo, or turn it off as a last resort.
Then reinstall 6.0 messenger and your problems should be fixed.
Let me also add a couple things. If this just started happening about 3-4 days ago, keep in mind that yahoo is updating their servers and there has been some very strange things happening lately.
I was in a room, and moved to a private room, and yet some people were still able to see the ppl coming and going from the other room, and the people in the other room, could see some of us typing in our private room. Weird. Like we were in the yahoo zone.
Anyway, if you dont’ want to go thru all the trouble, I would wait a couple of days and see if yahoo gets it all worked out and you may find that that was your problem to begin with.
