I can click on Yahoo Add Plug-ins and the Plug-ins Manager will pop-up with the list of plug-ins, but anytime I try to install one of them I receive an
error:An error occurred while trying to access “Yahoo! Music Launchcast” plug-in.
It will disappear in about 5 seconds and the plug-in will not install. This also happens when I try to access plug-ins through the web. Here is a list of what I have done so far.
1) Reinstalled Yahoo Messenger 3 times each time same results downloading the full version all three times.2) Erased Internet Cache files 3-4 times.
3) Redownloaded Yahoo Messenger thinking it got corrupted. 2-3 times.

Updated:
I e-mailed Yahoo tech support and they told me to install the newest version of Java, Active X Flash Player 9 , Shockwave Player and Windows Script 5.6 and I
tried fixing IE 6.0 SP1. None of this has done anything to correct the problem.December 16, 2006 at 1:23 pm #155499Jeff HesterKeymastersounds like you need to reinstall yahoo. lol
Updated: Do a complete uninstall of yahoo.
delete the Messenger directory = C:program filesYahoo!Messenger this will also remove the Saved Archives
Remove Yahoo keys from registry = HKEY_CURRENT_USER->Software->Yahoo
December 16, 2006 at 8:04 pm #155503Eagle_KiwiMemberAhem… er… Chris, this may be too radical a concept for you, but … try reading the WHOLE of a post rather than just the first sentence, before you try to give a useful response.
(I think you just hit a new all-time low there 😉 )And sorry, Timberwolf – I can’t suggest anything useful either. 🙁
December 17, 2006 at 8:52 pm #155502DermotParticipantHmmm if it is not reading the install, it may be a permission error, are you a limited user on the pc?
Perhaps adding the plugin manual might be a way around it.
Try disabling script errors in IE for (other) also
December 17, 2006 at 9:11 pm #155496Jeff HesterKeymasterEagle_kiwi lol I ment a complete uninstall. When you have a problem with yahoo a normal uninstall does nothing becouse all the settings are saved in the registry. Yahoo keeps the setting there after you uninstall so if you want to install yahoo again it will remember most settings. also in the messenger dir. files are saved for the same purpose.
wow I did hit a new low with that comment, and i didn’t catch it.
December 17, 2006 at 9:18 pm #155506timberwolf_73MemberI forgot to mention I am running Windows Me. I am not a limited user on the PC. I’ve tried to go directly to the website to download plug-ins and have not been successful. As for totally wiping Yahoo Messenger out and reinstalling. I have done that too using the program YRemover.
December 17, 2006 at 9:22 pm #155497Jeff HesterKeymasterYahoo messenger 8.0, and 8.1 is made for Windows xp. If you use the computer Alot think about getting windows Xp or wait a month and get Windows vista. Even Microsoft no longer supports Windows me.
December 17, 2006 at 10:17 pm #155507timberwolf_73MemberFrom Yahoo Tech Support: we would like to inform you that new version of Yahoo! Messenger is compatible with Windows 98/2000/Me/XP and Microsoft
Internet Explorer – 5.5 or higher versionDecember 17, 2006 at 10:33 pm #155498Jeff HesterKeymasterI didn’t say it wouldn’t work. You got to remember that customer support said that. They think everyone is dumb, or retarded.
just saying the day will come soon where new programs will not work on windows me.
Have you ever worked in customer service? if so didn’t you just tell people what you were told to say! and not the truth. example: “Customer is always right”
December 18, 2006 at 5:27 am #155501DermotParticipantis it just the Yahoo! Music Launchcast that you tried?
i think that requires some windows media player components.
it may be just the plugin is not compatible but the other functions of yahoo messenger is..
December 19, 2006 at 5:34 am #155505timberwolf_73MemberIt’s not just Launchcast, its any of the plug-ins.
December 19, 2006 at 5:40 am #155504timberwolf_73MemberWhat’s really wierd is that I have tried installing Yahoo Messenger 8.1.0.209 on some Windows 98 machines and it worked just fine.
December 19, 2006 at 1:27 pm #155500OreoMemberI have been having problems here on my work PC since last week when I was prompted to update. I have not bothered to update my home PC because of the problems. I have complete control of what I do on my work PC so permissions is not the problem. At one point when I tried to install the plug-ins, the list did not even pop up with any available. Now, they do, but when you try to install Launchcast, it shows on the messenger screen for a split second then is gone.
I think it’s a bug somewhere in the program…I am going to try to update my players (though I think I did that not too long ago) like Dermot suggested. I’ll let you know what happens if there’s any good news 😉December 21, 2006 at 9:11 am #155508timberwolf_73MemberYahoo Tech Support had me going round in circles for a while installing Java, Shockwave and flash player, Yahoo Messenger so many times I forgot to count.
They finally asked me to send them the log files so they could take a look at it for themselves. So hopefully this situation will be remedied soon. 🙂 -
