i’ve got the latest Yahoo Messenger 7.0.0.247 and i have a wireless broadband internet connection.. and im experiencing a Delay in IM’s im talking to my girlfriend whos using dial up and its like it doesnt show her typing and then 3 lines of messsages pop up and im like what the heck…
May 31, 2005 at 9:34 am #122778MartinBradleyMemberI’m assuming you didn’t have any problems with the previous versions of Messenger, and that you haven’t changed any system properties or any Internet properties which may cause the problem.
It may simply be the fact that it is still in Beta. Is your girlfriend also using the same version? If not, try using the same version and see if the problem still occurs.
May 31, 2005 at 5:59 pm #122777NettiMemberAlso, keep in mind that yahoo has been doing a ton of server updates, and if you are on a server they are updating you’re going to get lagg. Nothing you can do about it, but be patient and wait until they have finished, and hopefully the problem will go away. If not, personally I would go back to an earlier version of messenger, until the beta problems are fixed. I have heard a lot of issues with the new beta version, plus if you are using ytunnel and have it on auto update, there are pm issues.

June 16, 2005 at 4:38 pm #122779LucifinaMemberis anyone having probs setting up their audio for voice chat? When I try by going to prefs everything is grey….it won’t let me choose anything. I also can’t call anyone, but they can call me and we can chat. I’ve never had this problem with yahoo before.

I’ve never had this problem with yahoo before.I used to have this problem – with YM 6 and TM 7 Beta. After one month of frustration, i found out that my ISP was blocking port 5001 which is used by Yahoo for all Voice chat. So, check with your ISP — I was and am on 56 K dial-up connection.
My ISP won’t open up this port because of security threats, so I went to a second ISP and now my VOice Chat works great.
Hope this helps.June 18, 2005 at 8:38 am #122789Eagle_KiwiMemberLucifina wrote:… When I try by going to prefs everything is grey….it won’t let me choose anything. Do you mean just the “Calling & Audio” section ?And.. you say you can’t CALL anyone – do you see a Call button ? – and if so, what actually happens when you click it ?

If i use a different ID then they work fine, just not my ID. Could this be some sort of ban or something?
I tried contacting Yahoo, but Im still waiting.June 20, 2005 at 1:15 pm #122780LucifinaMemberHi Eagle Kiwi!
Yes, just the audio & calling section under prefs is grayed out. I do have a call button, but when pressed it gives me a message of setting-up my mic for the best experience, etc; then, I press “ok” to continue but nothing else happens.
June 20, 2005 at 2:01 pm #122783DermotParticipantUsually Yahoo! will only do that if the Sip(Voip) port is blocked.
on the Beta page the problem is noted on the “Known issues”
If your behind a router you will probally have to port foward/trigger the port for Sip.
“If your Call button is not enabled, your network settings may be denying traffic on port 5061”
perhaps this is your issue.
🙂

I tried contacting Yahoo, but Im still waiting.Did you ever get a resolution to this? I have exactly the same problem. Offlines arent received on one of my IDs but work fine on others. Clean install and/or rolling back to a previous version doesn’t fix the problem. It’s like Yahoo has set that particular ID not to receive offlines. Settings are the same in the IDs that work correctly as in the one that doesn’t. Damned annoying. I submitted a bug report, for what it’s worth.

July 2, 2005 at 1:31 pm #122781sarahtownyMemberI could not get offlines, and if I tried to look at my archive I got booted with a runtime error. In the end I have deleted beta and I have gone back to the normal version and it’s working fine again.
