Yahoo Messenger connecting and disconnecting frequently

Hi,

I am using yahoo messenger for long time ago. All of a sudden from couple of days back my yahoo is very inconsistant. It takes the login and very after that its connecting and disconnecting automatically and continuously. Let me tell you one thing I am using proxy server for outgoing traffic. But I was using yahoo messenger from long back and I am not getting why all of a sudden its stop working. Is there any specific reason like does yahoo change port recently? Or, any version issue?
Please keep me posted, any suggession would be appriciated.

I had this problem pop up when I first downloaded the new 8 version of messenger. I had it set to start up when I logged online.

I found out that removing it out of my startup menu and starting it up manually solved the problem of this restarting. keeping in mind I got the version while it was still in BETA and they have fixed a lot of things but this maybe something they haven’t addressed yet.

I do not know if this will help you but it did help me. good luck.

I also use YM with Redhat Linux 9 with Squid 2.4 stable proxy and everybody connected to my proxy complain about the frecvently disconnection and reconnection. We have many verions of YM, and I don’t think it is a version dependant problem. I also try the startup suggestion above but it is not help. Please help us….Thank you

Ive been having the same problem for the past couple of days. Frequent disconnects and reconnects. My friend at another company is having the same problem. Im running version 7 on XP Pro. Im behind a firewall and running with Firewall with no Proxies.

If all else fails try uninstalling all versions of yahoo even think about doing a clean uninstall. Look in yahoo messenger 8 (out of the bag) forum for clean uninstall. then install yahoo messenger 8. I have not had one problem with version 8 yet and I use it all the time since it came out last week.
