Does anyone know why I can’t uninstall yahoo! messenger explorer bar? Does anyone know HOW I can uninstall it? It is driving me crazy and when I try to uninstall the screen just flickers. I’m sure this is in another post but I did a search and didn’t find anything so my apologies if this is a repeat… thanks
March 11, 2005 at 10:16 pm #116700OreoMemberHave you tried going into the “Add/remove” programs under “Control Panel?” If not, go there and see if you can remove it as a program…sometimes it is more tricky than that…but that would be a good place to start. Just remove Yahoo! Toolbar. Hope it works (either way let us know :))
March 12, 2005 at 12:30 am #116708fredda074Memberyeah that’s what I mean, when I try to remove it in add/remove the screen just flickers, it won’t go away. I already cleared all the yahoo stuff out of program files folder but it is still there in my add remove programs list. It’s driving me insane. I found another thread with this same problem but I can’t figure out where to go to do what they say to do… the post is here:

March 12, 2005 at 1:16 am #116701OreoMemberIf you are not sure what to do with the registry…I would steer clear of it. I will look for a more straight forward way to get rid of it for you and post back.
March 12, 2005 at 4:56 am #116703kron_19792000MemberIt sounds like you have partially deleted it, you could try to reinstall the program and then get rid of it normally from the add/remove program list.
March 12, 2005 at 4:29 pm #116704MrEggsaladParticipantI would do what kron_19792000 said because if you delete the program files folder then the Add/Remove won’t be able to delete it. All The Add/Remove thing does is find the Uninstall Program in the Program Files Folder. That is why first you delete it from Add/Remove then delete the Program Files Folder. So reinstall it then delete from Add/Remove First, then Delete the Program Files Folder. Hope this helps!
P.S. This has happened to me before so I know what to do:)
March 12, 2005 at 4:52 pm #116702OreoMemberAll of the info I found points to the same thing the last two said, this is a MUCH easier and MUCH safer thing to do; messing with the registry and not knowing what you are doing can be like opening Pandora’s Box :S
March 13, 2005 at 6:42 am #116706-bAbY_meX-ParticipantWhat I do in those situations is (yes, they’re right. stay clear of the registry files ‘coz it would give you more problems) let the computer set down for a while before trying to uninstall a program from the Add/Remove Programs list in the Control Panel.
March 15, 2005 at 3:12 am #116710fredda074MemberThanks for all your replies… I will give that a try and let you know what happens 🙂
March 15, 2005 at 3:29 am #116711fredda074MemberOK, I reinstalled and tried the add/remove again, still no luck. All of the other crap that Yahoo put on I had no problem removing, except for this one… any more ideas? Thanks…
March 15, 2005 at 12:43 pm #116705MrEggsaladParticipantI have another idea, first get TweakNow RegCleaner to get rid of the other Yahoo registry files that you have already deleted the program for. *TweakNow RegCleaner Cleans you registry safely and is Free*Then try using the uninstaller that came with it. If that doesn’t work then try going into wherever it is installed, I think it is C:/Program Files/Yahoo/ and I forget what it is under but there should be an uninstaller in there.
I really hope this helps:)March 15, 2005 at 3:59 pm #116707fredda074MemberWOW!! Awesome program!! Thanks a lot 😀 Not only did it solve my problem, but it deleted over 1500 registry files that I no longer needed!! I emailed the link to all my friends. You’re my new hero 😀 😀 😀
