Every time I log into Yahoo Messenger 9, I set my “word” filters to “none”, click apply then ok, but every time I log out they revert to “weak”. Is there a registry setting I can change to prevent having to reset them each time?
This has been a problem on a few versions. For some reason it won’t save your default settings in the filter. You have to go in and reset it every time you log in. Its a problem on 8.1 and I would have thought they fixed it on 9.0, but I guess not.
Perhaps they will fix it on a future release. this is 9.0.0.1912 and it is happening. In messy 8.1 421 I had a registry fix that disabled it, but it doesnt seem to work on 9.
Thanks
The word filter bug has been fixed in Messenger since v9.0.0.1389 beta. I highly suggest you uninstall Messenger and clean install the latest version (the newly released v9.0.0.2018 final).
And yes, if needbe, there’s a registry key that can be used to disable it completely. Go to Start > Run and copy and paste the following code in…
And the word filter should be disabled completely. Another workaround is to delete the filter1.enc file in the Yahoo! Messenger installation directory.
