If I have the box checked to hide my online status on my profile will it prevent users from seeing me online everywhere else if I am not on their friends list? I set up an OSI that keeps saying I’m offline as well as my profile here on BBB.

You need to uncheck “Hide my online status” because the way OSI works is that it acts as a User viewing your status. So if you block everyone that isn’t on your list, you are also blocking the OSI.

August 26, 2003 at 7:54 pm #92510sciencefeelingMemberHello David and Co.!
First time I am curious about OSIs. The problem is, I noticed I always appear offline in my BBB profile (always that I checked), and I added one on a website and it always says I have no connection…
I checked my privacy settings and I allow people not in my list to see my status and contact me….so, what am I not checking?…I tried look for “Hide my online status”, but I didn´t find that exact sentence…is it somewhere else outside privacy settings?

On the other hand the code seems to be working given the fact that I can talk to myself (which I have to say is pretty funny…somehow I am always right…).
Thanks, by the way, I did make a search but I guess it was not that good of a search…so please punish and help me with past topics links, auch!!!August 26, 2003 at 8:10 pm #92514shifterMemberThe setting in Yahoo! Messenger is under Login -> Privacy. Its at the bottom in the box titled ‘When people see my ID on Yahoo! Web Sites’. You then have the option to ‘Allow users to see me online and contact me’ or ‘Do not allow users to see me online and contact me’. Make sure you have it set to Allow if you want to use OSI’s. And remember that OSI is not always a perfect system, some servers do have problems showing accurate statuses all of the time.
August 27, 2003 at 10:11 am #92509sciencefeelingMemberThanks Shifter, as I pointed out before, the allow users to see me online is already checked so that is not the problem anyway…I will survive, I was just curious.
