Hi all, first time posting. Can anyone tell me how some people have symbols and capital letters in their screen names? I’ve seen this in the chat rooms. Also, I’ll see a name in the list and when I put my cursor over their name, to check profile, etc., there is a different name listed in that ‘little yellow box’. Just curious. Thanks to anyone who can enlighten me!! Peace 🙂
People are doing this by putting in a nick name and thats how they are getting different names instead of their s/n

My doubt it is that I try to put my nickname in yahoo chats with the nice symbols and I can´t they told I should go in go to my Yahoo Profiles but I keep gettin this message in the page “The requested service is not available” is there a different way to do this?You have to have the language set to American English. Find my post from about 2 weeks ago, i explained to someone how to do this. USE SEARCH…..it’s lovely litte thing they have on this site. Good Luck.

I did change the language to “AMERICAN ENGLISH”, and also read the post u answered to “LATINO”. But still this is what I keep getting: Your Alias contains Invalid characters. Only letters, numbers and _ are allowed in this field. =( Can u Help Me?OK…your alias and your nickname are two different things. You ARE restricted to only letters and numbers and _ in yahoo ID’s. BUT when you look under the american english thing….you have the ability to change your nickname to ANYTHING you want. So if you have to pick some random ID (Alias) name….pick a random one that you’ll be able to remember. You’d have to sign in with that name….and when you chat the nickname with the neat charaters and signs come out. The only thing is that they won’t work if you’re just chatting with people. There was a time when you could have cap. letters in your yahoo! Id and alias…and some other things too…but Yahoo! got rid of those. So for example, your ID could be ID: Yol1234 And your Nickname: %% YOL++***[]/[] @ D C ooL ***
OK? Sorry…there’s no way to make them accept other characters in the ID…at least not that I know of ….and I use only legal ways. I hope this helped some. 🙂
when i am in a chatroom
sometimes there is a guy who decides to flood me with a 1000
names which is his name he is using and about 6 other different ones.
how can I stop him or can I do him even b4 he starts if ever he happenes to spot me?:rolleyes: Thanks 4your help I just need ot understand how things work
