Memberwhenever I am chatting with someone using the new Yahoo 8 it shows my real name while I chat.
I want it to show my username instead. Is there anyway to fix this so it’s like what it was in yahoo 7.5?

ParticipantHi Namrepus221,
There are a couple of ways to try and fix this.
one is to go to messenger top left of your buddy window and go to “my contact details”
and change the first and last name and click save and close.
second is to login to http://edit.yahoo.com and go to your account information and edit your first and last name in there.
These should stop your real name showing.

MemberThere is nothing in my contact information in YIM.
I changed my “Contact info” on Yahoo for if I were to purchase something…
Why I’ll never know.

MemberI think what he is referring to is a glitch with Yahoo Messenger 8. When you go into preferences –> appearance –> and check “For each contact on the Messenger list, show their: Nickname or First and Last name, it will show all your contacts with their nicknames but shows you with your screenname. However, if you check the other option show their Yahoo! ID, it will show their screen names when you chat with them but shows you as your Nickname or First and Last name.

ParticipantUpdate to latest Build of Yahoo! Messenger 8.0 to see if the problem persists.
The latest Build is 8.0.0701
Hopefully this will correct your issue!

Participant6.0 Should be fine for now…
This bug was a early 8.0 build problem.
However it will just be time till Yahoo Drop Support for 6.0 as they remove YMSG10 YMSG11
However in true Yahoo fashion they will inform you of such a change via Yupdater.exe and you will get a prompt on login when they do decide on that level of change.
