THANKSMarch 5, 2005 at 4:24 am #116180SubStreamMemberIf you could provide more information as to exactly what the error message was that would be more helpful.
March 5, 2005 at 5:26 am #116182addydpParticipantit just says yahoo has encountered a problem and needs to shut down. if you are in the middle of something…. and blah blah blah.. i guess that’s not very helpful.

any suggestions? would be appreciated! 😀Sounds like a corrupted file. The best thing you can do is uninstall Yahoo messenger and redownload it. First, try removing it from the Add/Remove programs in the control panel. If you still have problems after re-installing messenger, you need to get rid of the all the messenger files. When you remove messenger from the control panel, it leaves some of the files on your computer. If you still get this error message, remove it again through control panel. Then, go to My Computer, C:, Program files, find the yahoo folder and delete it. Then reinstall Messenger. This should fix your problem.

March 8, 2005 at 10:00 pm #116185Titan56MemberIt seems Im not alone… I d/l the latest version of this messenger this AM and I get the same message. I tried d/l the version I had before the 6.0.0.1750 but doesnt work either. I can sign in and see my contacts online but they dont see me. I asked one to send me an offline but they said they cant. I should of asked them what happens when they tried, I>E if they got an error of some kind. When I dbl click on the name I want to PM I get the Yahoo has encountered a problem etc. etc. and closes. pissing me off. I will wait to hear from addydp before I start deleting everything yahoo but if it fixes his problem I will give it a go. Until then I will stick with MSN. Get back to us adddp and let us know if that worked PURTY Please.
March 9, 2005 at 3:45 pm #116179NettiMemberSlashers recommendation is the only thing that will work. You definately have a corrupted file, but you need to remove ALL files first, and this is what is NOT happening, so the same corrupted files are staying on your computer.
Sometimes even your register gets the corrupted file, or people get errors saying they can’t remove the file. But the bottom line is you need to reinstall.
My only other suggestion, is NOT to install the newest version. Go back to the version you were using that worked. Yeah ok, you won’t have all the cute bells and whistles, but hey you’ll get online.
Good Luck.

March 21, 2005 at 10:49 pm #116187deejalMemberI have the EXACT same problems. This just started. Whenever I try to change my picture, it crashes and gives me the standard error message.
I even downloaded yahoo onto a brand new clean hard drive and got the EXACT same message.
It is a universal problem.
