I’ve been searching on this forum and other sites to see how to stop YM from resizing the main messenger window. If you manually change the window size so it takes up a small amount of space, the next time you restart YM it will be back to the default size. They used to do this with v6 but then did away with that behavior for v7.0 but now it’s back! With v6 there was a patch you could use to allow you to keep any window size. Is there anything similar or another solution that’s come out yet for v7.5? Thanks for any help.
Hi there Durerca.
I’ve heard of a few others over thew months with that same problem, of YM not remembering window size – and I DON’T know the solution – but I just want to let you know it’s NOT universal.
It’s always been fine and well-behaved for me, through all recent versions, and for many/most other people.
But for some reason (some incompatibility somewhere) it DOESN’T work for a few. 🙁
Sorry that’s no “solution” for you, but at least might help you toward one somewhere, I hope.
There must be a registry entry that is missing (I installed v7.5 on a computer that was freshly formatted/installed). I tried looking around YM’s registry but I couldn’t find a setting for the main window. For each profile there is a UI key but that controls the window for messaging with someone, not the main window. I’ll try the v6 patch and see what happens.
Edit: Even if you rename YahooMessenger.exe to Ypager.exe for the patch, it still will give you an incompatibility message and not let you patch the file so I guess Yahoo’s doing it different with v7.
