I normally use AIM at work, and either AIM or Trillian at home, but a lot of my British friends use Yahoo, so I wanted to be able to get in touch with them while I’m at the office (given the 6 hour time difference, that’s when they’re home and online).
I used to be able to use the java version of yahoo messenger without a problem. But since they’ve gone to Web Messenger, I’m unable to add new contacts at work. Could this be due to our corporate firewall? I wrote to yahoo about it, but all they could suggest was that it was a temporary problem and I should try again later–but it’s been going on for several months now (constantly).
Any suggestions?
Hi eabraham,
No, it’s not because of your corporate firewall, it’s just because of their bad programming interfacing with SUN’s Java. (not sure about Microsoft’s Java).

Thanks so much! I guess I just need to add them at home when I can use a regular client.
