Hello. I’m currently using XP Pro with YM 5.5 and every time I try to view someones webcam it freezes, locks, then crashes out. Could there be a small bug with YM and XP when it comes to webcams?
September 3, 2002 at 5:41 am #67194Jeff HesterKeymasterI’m running Yahoo Messenger 5,5,0,1214 on two separate Win XP Pro machines (a laptop and a desktop) and I’ve been able to view webcams of both 5.5 and earlier users with no problems at all.
I can also send webcam images, although I’ve yet to get the Super Webcam mode working.
I presume everything worked fine prior to upgrading to YM 5.5?

Never used YM before till a couple weeks ago..September 3, 2002 at 3:54 pm #67193Jeff HesterKeymasterCheck your version number. There were reports that some XP users had problems with the early 5.5 builds, but these had supposedly been resolved. If in doubt, uninstall, then download and reinstall the latest from Yahoo’s web site.
Also, are you connecting to webcams from a chat room, or in a private instant messaging session? The safest test would be to find a kind soul (preferably a friend) willing to help you test outside of the chat room environment, where a lot of script kiddies get their jollies from trying to boot other people off.
