That sounds pretty cool. Do you have any guidelines or advice on which protocols are the best to avoid booters?
If only you could make a utility that makes webcam more stable and faster 😉 Of course I know it depends on both ends, so that may not be possible. Or make a utility and say “this utility allows you to run webcam at more than 5 frames a second”.

They’ve been that way for a year. Maybe more people are using Yahoo these days and Yahoo hasn’t increased their bandwidth or upgraded its hardware in response, thus slowing it down for most people. Occasionally, it is faster, but even though DSL says you should get 3 frames a second, the best I ever got this year was at about one (around the same when I had dial-up). How sad. MSN is faster.
I’m beginning to wonder if Yahoo is either incompetent, lazy, doesn’t have enough money, or all the above.
Yeah, Gareth’s right. The closest you can do is Super Webcam mode, otherwise the webcam servers are typically too unstable to use.
Alternative? Windows Live Messenger.
I heard that mode was dropped a while back. Also, I wasn’t sure what the difference was or even how to use it, so I didn’t bother trying. Also, I thought you had to have a different kind of wc for that.
No, Super Webcam hasn’t been dropped. 🙂
Super Webcam is the faster webcam mode, as it changes from server connection to a peer-to-peer connection. Super Webcam *should* actually work better than normal webcam mode when broadcasting. But that doesn’t mean the servers aren’t screwed up though, they are.
And there’s nothing anyone except Yahoo can do about it.

I always prefare using Super Webcam, though, I’m positive you can only share Super Webcam with 1 user only. If more than 1 user views your Webcam, It’ll automatically switch to normal mode.
I’m surprised Yahoo ain’t doing anything about the issues on the Webcam Servers, has anyone even reported it?
Funny thing about it is the technology these days can do so much more but Yahoo seems to act like it is using tech from the 1990’s when it comes to speed and quality. It is very sad.
Is this super wc just faster or does it have higher resolution as well? I notice that super wc is in my Yahoo options below the wc options. Why is it there if it has been dropped? I’m using the current version of Yahoo.
It’s been widely reported. They’re just very, very slow. Webcams are broken for most Mac Messenger users too, and they’re being slow on that too.
Super Webcam is just a change from relaying the cam connection through the server, to a direct peer-to-peer connection. so there’s an increase in the speed of the webcam itself, hence the name Super Webcam. It hasn’t been dropped either.
How do you activate super wc instead of wc? I see no option or button or way to activate that mode of wc. Also, once I activate it, how can I make it so a contact activates it too so we both see each other in that mode?
I just noticed that a misread your first post and thought you said it was dropped when it wasn’t. At first I thought you contradicted yourself but I just misread the first post.
