I guess the title speaks for itself. Well, what is it?
I’ll start with mine.
The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
They show this all the time (or at least it used to? I haven’t watched much TV in a while) on TNT (Turner Network Television, is that what it stands for?) and every time it’s on, I can’t help but watch at least a bit of it.I browsed through all three pages of this movie section (twice) and I didn’t see a “Favorite movie” thread (and I was surprised), and if I somehow missed it, then… sorry?

June 30, 2004 at 9:00 pm #76918colinMemberI dont really know about my FAVORITE movie, but one of my all-time favorites has got to be Billy Madison. I love that movie, its so hilarious! It was made kind of a long time ago, and my friends still quote from it.
-ColinJune 30, 2004 at 9:29 pm #76914dmeMemberMy all time favourite would be Count of Monte Cristo. Revenge is so sweet…
My second all time favourite (which I feel I must mention because its a very close decision) is John Carpenter’s Vampires. There is no film of John Carpenter so far which I have not liked, and hey, can you get a better plot than Vampires in a Mexican brothel searching for a cross protected by Roman Catholic priests?
Although some of the recent classic films are also high risers, such as Troy, Passion of Christ, Lord of the Rings, The Last Samurai.
June 30, 2004 at 9:40 pm #76906OreoMemberI love mysteries and Alfred’s in particular North By Northwest[/b] is an awesome flick….but then again so is the Birds[/b]
July 6, 2004 at 9:09 am #76921Cozmic XMemberim supprised that no-one said “south park” the movie, any film that has that much swearing in it is genius! also how about “equiblibruim” and “Akira“
July 8, 2004 at 11:09 pm #76922SushiMan92MemberGodDamn! Equilibrium was a good movie! Def. my fav. Forget the endless blah-blah in the Matrix. Watch this instead.
July 8, 2004 at 11:16 pm #76912Hurricane22491MemberHmmmm…. I can’t really think of my favorite…. Finding Nemo!! That’s definitely one of them.
July 30, 2004 at 7:20 pm #76915UnSaKreDMemberTrainspotting (1996) starring Ewin Mcgregor.
Absolutely fantastic movie, great sound track too.
July 31, 2004 at 12:50 am #76920JayBe123MemberI have a few favourites The Godfather Trilogy, Oceans 11 and Dumb and Dumber. 🙂
August 5, 2004 at 4:07 pm #76919narayananMemberCast Away(I like Tom Hanks a lot!!), Finding Nemo, Oceans Eleven, Rush Hour 2, Catch me if you can and Beautiful Mind
August 5, 2004 at 4:20 pm #76917matthewMemberHarry Potter Movies!! ahh I love em 😀 lol.
August 6, 2004 at 7:42 pm #76910RabidKittenParticipantTrainspotting was great, and a head trip.
Oceans Eleven, I could -never- get sick of that movie. Don Cheadle is too funny. “In barney.*blank stare* Barney Rubble. *blank stare* In trouble!”
Akria is a classic. So is Samourai X if you like the Rurouni Kenshin bit.
Shawshank is a G.F.M. (great freaking movie)
and Passion of the Christ was HORRIBLE. As a “statement” it was alright, but if you look past all that religious mumbo jumbo and look at the movie itself, it was horrid. Absolutely, mind numbingly horrible. The camera shots were alright, pretty artistic, and very realistic as to the damage J.C. took, but really…the random flashes, the lighting, the use of “evil” or whatnot, It was horribly played out, over rated and over dramatized. That and to quoteth Mr. Wiggles “The Crusifixion, brought to you by Pepsi”. It was just really spotty and I could not sit through it again for the life of me. Its amazing what people will look past just because of the subject. but hey, that’s just me *ahem*My favorite movie (at the moment) Has to be American History X. Edward Norton is the man, and Edward Furlong is amazing. That and who doesn’t like Avery Brooks?
I don’t know what it is about that movie, it’s intense and thought provoking, I think. Not to mention that it’s just one of those odd ball films that after it’s all said and done, it makes you go “huh…”August 12, 2004 at 7:40 pm #76913Dr KimbleParticipantWell of course The Fugitive is my all time favorite. I was so glad to see that VH1 included it in the 1993 episode of I love the ’90s! That absolutely made my day.
If Fugitive did not exist, however, my favorite would be Quiz Show. It is a great movie about the quiz show scandals of the fifities.
August 15, 2004 at 3:23 am #76923amy_d_gParticipantI have a lot of favorites… the first one of the top of my head would have to Set It Off… I love that movie but it seems that any time I buy the dvd somebody ‘borrows’ it and I never see it again…:(
