Hi everyone! I hope everyone who celebrates Thanksgiving had a nice holiday. I was home on break from school and didn’t really have time to sit on the computer. But anyways…
My mom and I started to decorate for Christmas, and of course, she tortured me with her Xmas music. And I was wondering…for all of you who celebrate the holiday, what is your favorite Christmas carol/song?
I’ll start…mine is Hark! the Herald angels sing
November 29, 2004 at 12:16 am #106239RabidKittenParticipantAlright, now just because I don’t celebrate Christmas doesn’t mean I don’t like the songs, eh?
Personally I like Silent Night and Jingle Bell Rock. *boogies down* That and who doesn’t like Winter Wonderland. They have some really nice songs for the holiday. I’m not too keen on the religious ones, but Silent Night is just so pretty it’s hard to resist!
November 29, 2004 at 12:32 am #106237detn8rParticipantMine is The little drummer boy. It was my nana and mine’s favorite since I was little, and it still is.
November 29, 2004 at 1:18 am #106247gossipingraeMemberWell, Rabid, I was only saying that because I didn’t want to offend anyone. You know how touchy *some* people get around this place, hehe.
November 29, 2004 at 1:44 am #106236Jeff HesterKeymasterI like Jingle Bells Rock, it’s great. heh. But I like “Let it snow” the best. (Especially Frank Sinatra style singing)
Drummer boy I used to like until I was 7 and was given the role of Drummer boy and accidentally fell on the baby Jesus. I threw a drumstick at someone because they laughed and got in trouble and people just laughed more. 😛

Don’t throw your little stick at me (I’m LAUGHING REALLY HARD RIGHT NOW!) That’s just such a cute, sweet story!!
I like a lot of French, Italian and Spanish Christmas songs…they are really beautiful. And some Polish ones are totally awesome!
November 29, 2004 at 2:17 am #106240RabidKittenParticipant*laughs* you’re kidding! That’s hillerious, poor baby jesus! *purr* I forgot Let it snow. See there are just too many good holiday songs! What about White Christmas? OH! Funny story;
One year in high school, I was in TV production class and one thing my school did was every friday, instead of announcing birthdays, we made a big long drawn out clip for them. Most of the time it was spoofs of movies that just came out like Matrix and the object was someone stole the birthday tape and to get it back. Well, this year the school had gone agro talking about how it was “Winter Break” and heaven forbid if you called it “christmas break” (Heck, I even called it christmas break). Anyway, these sophomores took a tape of the movie “White Christmas” right when Bing is singing to the troops and everytime he said “Christmas” they inserted a really monotone, robotic voice saying “Winter Holiday” for the friday before break. *laughs* So it came out like this:
“I’m dreaming of a Whi-ite *bad sound edit* Winter Holiday. Like all the ones I used to know. *jump cut* I’m dreaming of a white *bad sound edit* Winter Holiday. With every *bad sound edit* Winter Holiday card I write. *jump cut* And may all your *bad sound edit* Winter Holidays be white.”
It was Hillerious!No worries Rae, like I said, regardless of my own affiliation, I like holiday songs, it’s just silly when people get touchy, I think, but that’s me. Who doesn’t love running around screaming “dreidel, dreidel, dreidel, I made you out of clay. dreidel,dreidel,dreidel, with dreidel I will play” *dances around* Sure I get funny looks and plenty of questions like “Are you jewish or something” but hey, it’s good clean fun.
December 5, 2004 at 10:28 pm #106246SpikeMemberI like 12 Days of Christmas and Jingle Bell Rock, as well. Oh, and who can go wrong with the Spansh? Gotta love Feliz Navidad! 😎
December 5, 2004 at 11:17 pm #106241RabidKittenParticipant*Chuckles* To quote the great eddie izzard:
“That “Partridge in a pear tree” song, the only bit we like of it is that, ( singing )”Five gold rings!” People go berserk at that point! People come running in from other rooms, ( singing ) “Five gold rings!” The rest of it, we don’t know; above that, it’s just, ( singing, uncertain ) “Twelve… monkeys mating, eleven… donkeys dancing, ten pigmies farming, nine… socks… a swimming… ( certain ) five gold rings!” This is a human thing. We only like to learn a little bit of a song. We can’t be bothered, yeah. “*Runs in from the other room* FIVE GOLD RINGS!!
Edit: If you’d like more fun with Eddie Izzard quotes, here you are
December 5, 2004 at 11:59 pm #106243Red DevilMemberI did like the original Band Aid song, but the new version has destroyed it… It has Busted in it *Shudders*. I’m probably still gonna buy it for the Charity, but i’d much rather just give them the £4 and not take the CD.
I also agree with Miami. Let it Snow is great as well.
@RK
Quote:quote: But in Britain we don’t win many gold medals at the Olympics… because we’ve chosen not to! It’s a political statement! Because we hate our national anthem. Because it’s “God Save the Queen,” you see? “God Save the Queen.” Now the Queen lives in a very big house, she has barbed wire outside, and people with guns in front of that. That’s one saved ****ing queen, I’ll tell you! That’s the problem! She’s overly saved! She has no idea of the struggle of human existence. We have to work for a living, raise a family… we don’t have nannies all running around the place. It’s what you’ve got to do in your life, you know? So it’s “God Save the Queen.” No! It’s too saved. It’s “God Attack the Queen,” that’s what it should be! ( singing ) “God attack the Queen, send big dogs after her that bite her bum. Let them chase after her and rip her knickers off…” That’d be fantastic! Then she’d have to fight the crazy dog with a handbag with a brick inside of it.“Crazy dog! Crazy dog!”
“Arrgghh, kill the Queen!”
“No – crazy dog!”
And maybe she’d kill the crazy dog and everyone in Britain would go, “Hey, fair play to the Queen,- killed the crazy dog.” And the Queen would have self-respect for the first time in her life! Yes. It would work. It’d be fantabulous.
On the basis of that one quote, I have decided that Eddie Izzard is great. It’s completely true! 😀
December 6, 2004 at 12:07 am #106242RabidKittenParticipant*laughs* Yeah…best part is…he’s a 30 something man, huge man, transvestite. So nothing quite like a man with a british accent, in women’s attire (And platform heals) and makeup talking about crazy dogs running after the queen.
Check out the rest of that act, and if you can find it, rent it! Eddie Izzard: Dress to Kill. It’s HILLERIOUS.December 6, 2004 at 11:28 pm #106244Red DevilMemberHeh, from what i’ve read, that guy is hilarious!

Yeah, so, yes, so that was it. There was a spirit of ex-empire, this thing of “things can’t be done,” whereas in America, I thought there was a spirit of “can be done!” The pioneer thing.“Go do it, what do you want to do?”
“I want to put babies on spikes.”
“Go then! Go!”
/me goes to find the DVD.
What do you mean this is about Christmas Carols? Ermm… Yeah… Let it Snow… good song.
December 7, 2004 at 1:12 am #106245Crazy PenguinMember/me prepares to borrow said DVD off Red Devil…
And yeah… christmas carols… i’ve always liked silent night…
December 8, 2004 at 4:18 pm #106248spongebobnopantMemberall I want for xmas is youuuuuuuuuuuu is my fave lol
