hey i read the thing about a new logo so i came up with a basic design i dunno what the rules are when a logos copywrited so tell me if its ok heres the basic

quite decent… it is still kinda using the AIM “running man” but technically it is flipped so its different… i like it
The problem is that the running man logo is not only recognized by it’s shape, but also by it’s color. I think it’s losing a lot of recognition because it’s blue. Could you try to make an orange version?

but then wouldnt you just be back where you were with AOL’s complaining that you’re “stealing” their property? if its blue then you can at least say no its completely different…. it wouldnt just be flipped
if you really really really want orange, i dont think this would look very good but you could try an orange border… :-:confused: personally i like the blue one

Well, there’s a lot of different kinds of orange. 😉 You could even take yellow, it’d be better recognisable than blue. 🙂
Problem being the fact that the “Running Man” is AOL’s trademark logo, and no matter how you dress it up, its still infringing there legal copyright. Sure its a bit pigheaded to insist we don’t use it, but it is there choice whether or not they want to be affliated with a site or not. They choose not to be recognized here, on one of, if not the most popular IM website out there. There choice, and there loss IMO.
copyright law says if there is more than a 20% difference than the original then you are not breaking the law, so by flipping it and changing the color they have no legal rights. so I like the flipped blue guy.

you guys want it??? i figured that would be enough of a change i mean the color blue looks cool to me and most other people just because its not orange or yellow isn’t going to be a turn off i mean its gotta be better then the “?” mark right?

i really don’t think it takes to much away from aim I actually think blue looks much better (at least in my opinion) more pleasing to the eye
just comment but i think my logo was a little cooler shoulda did a poll seeing what the people thought you guys prob wont read any of this anyway but that logos lame lol peace out
