I have been using this program for months now and really like it, except for the fact that the creator of the program as seemed to have ditched the program. I was curious though, is Y!TunnelPro pretty much the only ‘all around’ plugin for Yahoo! Messenger or does it have any competition out there? I’m not interested in just ONE plugin that only does ONE thing, I’m interested in any other ‘enhancers’ that have a ton of features built into that one program.
Thanks.
March 22, 2005 at 12:11 pm #117184OreoMemberYou may have to look around for a third party program. You can do a search on the site for third party Yahoo! programs. There are plenty out there like YahElite and YaZak to name a couple of them. Take them for a test drive, granted they don’t plug into Yahoo! like Y!Tunnel, but you might like the features they do bring. 🙂
March 23, 2005 at 12:09 am #117191miGsMemberat the moment, i haven’t found a competitor for Y!Tunnel and it is still a mystery why CHET seems to have ditched the program where he made a lot of fortune..there are a lot of 3rd party chat clients as Oreo said but of course we cant deny the fact that Y!tunnel is the only application integrated in YM… so just check them out…
March 23, 2005 at 3:49 am #117194pitipushMemberwhats Y!Tunnel?
March 23, 2005 at 1:06 pm #117192miGsMemberpitipush are u serious? u dont know Y!Tunnel? or just joking? lol
March 26, 2005 at 11:15 pm #117190ainissesthaiParticipantAccording to the Ytunnel website – Donna made an updated edit to her last post:
There is no reason to wait until March 1st as I had originally posted…… the forums are once again closed, and will not be reopened until Chet does so – there is no excuse for him keeping his thousands of loyal members in the dark on the delay of this upcoming build. (or his lack of communication on the site for the last year)
I will not be opening a section of the forum for member comments as requested. I saved all of the previous posts in an area of the forum for his reading, whether he bothers to read them or not is up to him……and by opening a section for further comments in the main part of the forum, unmonitored, would turn this site into the circus I worked so hard to keep it from becoming.
I wish this program had continued as it began…. strong, stable and secure. I want to thank all of our members for their support and I hope that Chet will return to take care of all the issues some of you are having. Best wishes to you all!
*edit – 03/15/05 – it should be obvious now that Chet has no intention of returning to this site or supporting his abandoned program – I strongly suggest that no one else purchase this product and that you inform your friends to pass this word along.
after all is said and done – its a sad case that Chet’s abandoned the program. I think Donna once said they had over 30,000 paid subscriptions – thats half a million dollars. Perhaps he feels that he’s rich enough he can just drop it and leave everybody in the lurch. Though if thats the case he should take down the website instead of keeping it up, or making promises for updates he can’t (or won’t?) keep.I love ytunnelpro and I’ll continue to use it until messenger upgrades make it obsolete. There simply is NOT another standalone program that can compete with it, unfortunately.
April 6, 2005 at 6:02 am #117193SseadoubleyouMemberSpeaking of “Donna”…
Personally, I never cared for her ONE bit! She seems to have a rather nasty attitude problem with other users in the forums. Unlike a lot of other people who used Y!TunnelPro without paying for it, I actually paid for the program. I didn’t appreciate going to the boards and having to watch EVERY SINGLE WORD that I typed into a post and then having to worry about whether or not I was going to be *ATTACKED* by the “Great Donna”! I understand all forums have rules but this woman was like on attack happy mode constantly! She just seemed flat out, bitter. She seemed more concerned with controlling who said what then she did with the customers of the program in general. I am not the only one who has complained about her. If you notice in one of her latest posts (the one regarding Chet not returning to the site which I believe was updated by her on the 15th of March)…she said how she is tired of being attacked by people because certain people don’t like how she runs the forums. Maybe she should take a look at herself, obviously she is the problem. Everyone else can’t be wrong!
Anyways getting back to Y!TunnelPro, I really think the program is gone and forgotten. I’m hoping that Messenger:Mate will develop a product for Yahoo Messenger in the future. Currently I use Messenger:Mate for both AIM and MSN Messenger, both programs are excellent and the creator of the program is really *COOL*, he’s nice (NOT snobby like someone else we all know lol) and updates his programs on a regular basis. It’s nice to see there are still people out there who know what customer service means.
May 12, 2005 at 10:55 am #117195ape_childParticipantchet has ran off to a remote desert island while all his customers are in left in a ditch and right now he’s probably spending all the gullible customers money that bought his program and is laughing at them, he’ll only return if he runs out of money then he will take that opportunity to milk all his customers for more $$$
May 12, 2005 at 11:56 am #117186NettiMemberWell, as with any program that people make, these things happen. They get bored with the program and move on to whatever has peeked their interest. In my opinion, once he abandoned his program, he voided the contract with me, and supplies no support or updates for this program. As such, I have the ability to do whatever I want with the program.
However I don’t know anything about it, but isn’t trillian the same type of 3rd party application as ytunnel is?
There also used to be one wayyyyyyyyyy back in the beginning that still works called Stay Alive, but again I dont’ know much about that one either.
May 13, 2005 at 11:21 am #117185OreoMemberThank you Netti for bringing this topic back on track. As if it had continued the way it was headed, I would have had to get out my key and lock it. AGAIN, this is NOT the place the slag others…if you have LEGITIMATE posts about the program (not the people behind it) post…use Netti’s example.
May 15, 2005 at 3:56 pm #117187UnSaKreDMemberStay Alive, worked wonderfully back in the day.
Unfortunately it is no longer offered or supported :
Trillian and Y! Tunnel are two different style of applications.
Trillian IS a third party chat application, where as Y! Tunnel is just a Yahoo! Messenger addon.
May 18, 2005 at 2:00 am #117196imported_Ven0mMemberStay Alive probolloy wouldnt work due to all the server side boots that are out there now 😛 at least ytunnel is back from the dead now 🙂
May 18, 2005 at 2:14 am #117188UnSaKreDMemberYa but for how long?
After a six month dissapearance, i am sure he has lost trust and customer support in his product.
And in the future what will this mean, if he runs off for another 6 months with no udpates??
Y! Tunnel i feel is best used against bots and the like, than boot codes.
Since his track record has shown that his ‘boot filtering’ technique needs improvement…
‘His kung-fu no good’
May 18, 2005 at 2:31 am #117197imported_Ven0mMemberit seems like now he has to kiss some customner a$$ to get back customners……seems like he has allready started doing it by adding a feature to ytunnel he said himself in a chat he would never add (mic locker)
May 18, 2005 at 2:33 am #117189UnSaKreDMemberOf course he has to,
I was just reading over his site, and found that he is making a lot of improvements.
The product itself(or the idea rather) is a good one, primarily because he listened to people that were complaining about certain features, or lack of features in yahoo’s client.
With the new supposed features, I think it will definately put y! tunnel back into the top of plugins for yahoo messenger, especially adding vb script/jscript/plugin modules etc.
This is an excellent idea.
Although, we will see what security issues arise from it.
