ParticipantThank you for your reply. I have Windows 7 and 2 months ago I uninstalled Internet Explorer 8 from my computer by deleting the IE8 file in programs on C/drive or computer hard drive. But then I still was able to install Aim Messenger and none of my other programs were effected and my computer was not either.
About 2 weeks ago I went one step further and deleted the Internet Explorer 8 registry keys. But NOTHING on my computer is effected and everything is running normally.
So green browser and advanced browser that are said to run off of IE are running okay. Nothing is effected at all but since I remove the IE8 registry keys,THAT WAS WHEN I CAN NO LONGER INSTALL AIM MESSENGER. Because I get a message saying your browser does not have the minimum requirements error IS-1005. I get this error message no matter how many times I try to download Aim Messenger.
I removed Internet Explorer because I hate it and deleted some of it’s registry keys because I do not want Windows to install it back on my laptops as it trys to do in Windows update.
The Internet Explorer registry keys I deleted were the ones that said what version was installed these read as IE8 version in the registry. But since I have done all of this including deleted the Registry keys, nothing else has been efffected except for that I cannot install Aim any more. But every other program,Windows live messenger,ICq and otheres even installing other IE based browsers,Avant browser I can do.
As I have other web browsers on my computer I have Google Chrome,Flock,Safefox and many othere all of which are up to date.
Why is it it will not let me install Aim? Is it because of what I did, with the registry keys? and could it be that the policy of Aim is that you must have Internet Explorer installed to install and run Aim? could that be the reason? Please help as I cannot understand why despited removing Internet Explorer every other program downloads, installs and runs, but not Aim Messenger. So how can I resolve this problem? I can find nothing about this on the web. Andrea Borman.
