MemberHi and thanks for your suggestion. The program has some bugs though. Read here http://www.smithdm3.com/archives/000164.html. And I can’t combine the program
with my webserver which I’m running on the same computer, as fara as I understand.I will definitely try it if I can’t get MSN to work. Something if wrong with computer 1
and I will not give up!beeo
MemberI do have the same problem with one of my friends. And I’m curious to know what people have as a minium configuration/system setup as Microsoft says that it’s sufficient with a speed of 33.6 Kbps. to make a voice conversation. Which I don’t believe!
Here are my details:
Computer 1
AMD Duron 1,3 Ghz
128 Mb RAM
Onboard Audio Realtek
XP Home with all patches etc
IE 6.xx
DirectX 9.xx
MSN Messenger 6.0.0602
Internet Speed 128/64 Kbps. Cable modem.Computer 2
Intel Pentium III 800 Mhz
384 Mb RAM
Onboard Via Audio
W2K Pro. with all patches etc
IE 6.xx
DirectX 9.xx
MSN Messenger 6.0.0602
Internet Speed 512/128 Kbps. Cable modemA speedtest on computer 1 says it’s okey. New drivers installed.
Changed TCP/IP and NIC settings several times. Not the best
microphone though! And still I can’t get a reasonable voice conversation with computer 1.
They can hear me sufficiently well. Lets say abt. 90% of a normal phone
conversation. But I can hardly understand what they are saying to me. The voice is stuttering, halting and chattered.Just now I’m thinking about buying a new memory chip for the computer 1 as 128Mb is not enough for XP. Secondly ordering a faster connection to the internet.
So now I’m wondering? Is the Internet speed on computer 1 to slow?

MemberJust for the record. After I installed ver. 6 I now get e-mail notifications.
Sorry abt your problem Moog. I dont know IntelliType Pro. I presume that you already tried to completely remove MSN from your system and reinstalled it again? Above solution did it for me, though!

Member…but you will NOT get any notification when a new e-mail arrives, unfortunately :(.

MemberI went to microsoft messenger support
http://support.msn.com/solutionarticle.aspx?pk=messenger&aid=1543 and followed the instruction. But when i restarted IE it did not ask me to be the default reader. So I klicked action – send e-mail in messenger
and as usuall Outlook started and asked to be the default e-mail program! I said yes to this and closed Outlook. Then I went to IE – tools – internet options – programs and now I was able to change the default e-mail program from Outlook to Hotmail.
So this solved the problem for me! Hope this can be of help!

MemberHi Liza!
As far as i can see, from the small images, this is a little program that replaces the rtcdll.dll file on win98 systems. It’s not actually a patch, but just a tool for those people not too familiar with folders & files on a computer. Replacing the file manually is the same thing. And I think the program can be used for all language as the rtcdll is a Real Time Communications client controller and doesn’t care if you speak Swahili, Swedish or French :-). But as I said it’s a very small image and I don’t read french, unfortunately.
I don’t know if people here are interested in a translation?

MemberHi Petem
I became member just to say that this was a great and outstanding solution to a problem that has taken me hours to try and solve.
After I have replaced the dll file everything works fine on the win98SE machine, again
But I’m still worried abt. the security. But what the h.. Come and take me 😉
Thank you very much!
