ParticipantI would also like to point out a web-based away message crawler, buddygopher, for those who don’t have their computers online 24/7 or don’t want to/can’t install an add-on

I thought the same thing as Rusty the first time i saw this thread, but upon reading through it I realized it’s fine where it is. it’s a client in and of itself. it can’t be an add-on, since the point of it is to connect to AIM without having to install AIM – meaning no native client to add on to.
I had the same thought process as you when I was originally making this thread. I suppose the ideal would be to have a main forum for AIM Talk separate from AIM Support, but this is what we have.Anyway, just after george put up that 1.1 beta, I had to go do a tech call, so I left it running on my computer. It actually came in handy when I got to the support site and realized I had not brought a CD with support files. I logged into AIM and sent them over to the computer I was working on, saving myself a drive home and back again.

AIM Add-ons & Utilities.
I don’t think so, as this is neither an add-on, nor a utility, but a full AIM client. That remote control seems pretty cool. I’m having some problems sending files to myself from the same computer, but otherwise nice work!

ParticipantQuite true, if you already have AIM installed, its easier to keep it. That being said, if you’re at a new computer, TerraIM is perfect, you don’t even have to install, it just runs.

ParticipantNo offense taken, I can’t really say I designed it. I’m guessing you’re talking about the alternate skin, using a dark base. Whenever something is different, there is some shock, so that’s probably why you thought of it as poor. Try using the ‘classic’ skin, I’m sure you’ll find it feels familiar like the normal AIM client.

Good, point, so here’s the list, taking out AIMutation, M_M/Smilez features (including items that don’t overlap)-Low RAM usage
-Offline messaging
-Random colors
-No install
-Saving settings to a file (for USB usage)So, as you can see, even compared to AIM with third-party additions, TerraIM still has a bit to offer

Participant-Tabbed instant messages
-Logging
-Talking while away

-Ad-Free

ParticipantSure thing (though I wish I could take credit for the good work)
Any suggestions? This is the perfect time for features to be added to the next release’s todo list (obviously if you’re sticking with normal AIM, you probably have some)Cronus
Participantsorry about that, I should have said the ones at my location. I really couldn’t figure out why you were saying that 😛

Participantummm…..Rusty, I’m missing whatever help you were trying to convey in that post.

Participantsince about 4:00 yesterday, all of my SNs that were signed on at the time have been having ‘blocked’ errors (the kind asking for age verification, but it won’t let me login to do that). Any chance its related?

ParticipantSomeguy, please have your friends try what I suggested. If nothing else, have them download a client like TerraIM (no install, so it won’t mess up their computer in the future) and have them use it instead of the normal AIM client until AIMFix is updated.

ParticipantIf you use IMLocal, you get pictures from other buddies there.

ParticipantSomeguy, please try AIMFix. Even if it doesn’t work, sending in a HijackThis logfile will allow a proper fix to be created

ParticipantIf you have a virus, download http://jayloden.com/AIMFix.exe, reboot into safe mode, and run it twice. AIM will exit in order for this to work.
IF the virus is not removed, run http://jayloden.com/HijackThis.exe and send the log it produces to Jay Loden at http://jayloden.com/contact.htm Using the information you sent, he should be able to produce a new version of AIMFix shortly which will remove it.
Also, please send a message with the link you downloaded the virus from to me at aimvirus@mit.edu so I can send the owners of the site a takedown request so the virus cannot continue to spread.
