MemberHmm, I don’t think it is possible on 7.0 or the 8 beta, but I will experiment (I never really thought about trying to do that).

MemberHi
Did use use Sound Recorder and a mic to record it? If so, that’s probably why it sounded so bad.
http://elitenick.com/?page=tutorials&tutorial=computer_sounds_direct
That tells you how to setup your sound so it plays and records through your computer – not using a mic. Increases the quality a lot.
I’d use Audacity for decent lengthed recording though…Sound Recorder isn’t too advanced. You can get Audacity here – http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ (it’s free)

MemberGo to Start/Run
Type “regedit”
Expand “HKEY_CURRENT_USER”
Expand “Software”
Expand “Yahoo”
Expand “pager”
Expand “profiles”
Expand whatever your screen name is
Expand “YbSkin”
Double click “YbSkinName”
What does it say? By default it should say “IndigoIndigo.xml”
The second thing “YbSkinned” should have the value of 1 if you double click it.
I think the problem is something with the registry as everyone else has said…I’ve noticed Yahoo! keeps adding new things in there and keeping old ones in there but not using them.

MemberKingsofcaos6669: What bug is that? lol
Oreo: Same here…usually late at night though. I think it’s probably just because they’re doing changes to a lot of stuff, especially with the logins and such, in preperation for the Yahoo! + Windows! Live collaboration.

MemberI made a prog a few days ago for this…but specifically for the new Yahoo! Messenger 8 beta…so I can’t guarantee it’ll work on a real old version.

All the AD URL’s are stored in the registry…so it’s like, really easy to change them, lol. Thanks Yahoo! 😀

MemberThere’s a Topic somewhere in this forum (I think it’s even stickied) that talks about that. You gotta have your account language set to like Mainland Chinese or whatever, then change your nickname to whatever with ASCII in it. Then it’ll work. Or at least it used to (haven’t tried it since like messenger 6.0)
EliteNick
MemberDo you mean they’re popping up with messages real fast too? Maybe you’re getting booted.
If not…then maybe it’s a weird effect of Yahoo! getting/testing Yahoo! Messenger to work along with Microsoft Live! Messenger.

MemberSorry, Fake Idle Maker is now “Fake Status Maker” and allows you to make a fake idle, fake webcam or headphones status on Yahoo! Messenger 5, 6, 7, 7.5 and 8.
EliteNick
MemberI got the fake idle and headphones icon working again for Yahoo! Messenger 8 beta 🙂

I also put in an option to have Y!Amp open on Windows startup so you don’t have to keep opening it when you start Winamp & Yahoo! So if you close Y!Amp while it’s minimized, and restart your computer, it’ll open up automatically but will be minimized so there’s no annoyance. 🙂
EliteNick
MemberThanks 🙂
I didn’t really want to have to go through having to figure out what Yahoo changed now and all of that, but people were complaining on my site going “why doesn’t it work on Yahoo! Messenger 8!?!?!?” haha. Plus it feels good being the first one to have this done on Messenger 8. 😎

MemberHi
Not sure if this’ll work on your version, but it worked on mine (7.5.0.811)
It says it works for all version of Yahoo! 7+, so give it a shot.

MemberYes.
http://elitenick.com/?page=tutorials&tutorial=computer_sounds_direct
What you do is setup your soundcard so it plays whatever sound your computer makes straight to your friend, instead of trying to get sounds from a microphone.
EliteNick
MemberIt is…
just look at what version of Yahoo! Messenger you have by going to Help/About Yahoo! Messenger with voice
Look at the version # in parentheses. The newest is (7,5,0,333)
Then download Y!Multi Messenger or a similar program that has that version number in its name and install it (http://elitenick.com/pafiledb/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=134)…theneverytime you double click Yahoo! Messenger it will open a new instance of it, instead of bringing you to the already-open one.
The only problem with this is if one person wants to play music and is using a program that shows what song they’re listening to, it won’t work right, because it relies on the registry to read the statuses & gets messed up when there’s more than 1 instance of Yahoo! running.
EliteNick
MemberYou also need to know what version of Messenger you’re on to get the right addon for it.
So if you’re on Yahoo! Messenger 7 you need something like Y!Multi-Messenger 7 ( http://elitenick.com/pafiledb/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=128), which will work on all v.7 builds (not sure about the new beta though).
EliteNick
MemberWhat do you mean? Logged into two different names on Yahoo! at the same time?
This messes with the registery data and screws up the way the plugin you’re using works.
