MemberHello Don SA and welcome,
Windows Live Messenger gives you the option to ‘appear offline’ to your contacts. However, even though you are appearing offline, you are still given the ability to chat with your contacts. But with that said, Windows Live Messenger also gives your contacts the ability to leave you “offline messages” whether you are signed in and appeared offline or signed out of messenger entirely.
Chances are they are leaving you offline messages or taking a chance at you being online but appeared offline as you said.
Hopefully I’m on the right track here with your question:)

MemberHey wishmaster,
It sounds like MSN is detecting your TV Tuner and that is why msn shows your contacts that you have a webcam. As for the reason you can’t disable under options which you have tried it sounds, i don’t know why that would not work. I would suggest trying to disable your TV Tuner device under ‘Device Manager’ if possible without affecting any other devices that may rely on that particular device. It might be worth a shot

MemberHello Furanku and welcome to BBB,
Just a tip for posting, please try to not double or triple post for the same topic. We want to help you and hopefully we can!
What kind of webcam do you have that you are using? Does it have integrated microphone? What version of messenger are you using? What type of internet connection do you use?
Thanks and hopefully we can help resolve this issue!
P.S. If you haven’t tried yet, it doesn’t hurt to search the forums for webcam issues others have had and they may relate and have possible remedy. Just a thought;)

MemberHello again wishmaster
It seems that your computer is recognizing something as a video capturing device. Could you tell us what is listed exactly under Video setup.
Do you have any other equipment like a digital camera, TV Tuner or any other hardware which is used to capture video or images?
If you are familiar with using your computers ‘Device Manager’ then you can try looking there for Imaging Devices, you can find this by:
Right-clicking My Computer > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager and from there you see a list of categories of different hardware devices, and there may be one as Imaging Devices which is probably the cause of this problem.
Try that out and let us know what happens!fiebs101
MemberHello DeadMan70 and welcome!
Could you tell us more about your computer specs and internet connection? Do you have any addon’s or plug-ins installed with WLM?
Also, when you say it doesn’t load 50% of the time, but it does show up under Processes… does the WLM icon show up under the system tray next to your computer clock at all?
Always a simple and painless possible quick solution is downloading a fresh copy of the latest version of WLM and reinstalling it.
Thanks and hopefully we can figure this out soon!

MemberHello wishmaster and welcome,
Just a quick suggestion, perhaps try downloading and reinstalling a fresh copy of Windows Live Messenger for possibly a quick-fix.
Also just to clearify, when you go through the Video and Audio setup wizard, is there any type of video capturing device listed at all? Or is it just an empty list?
Hopefully we can help you to solve this problem ASAP!

MemberHello Santunes,
Could you enlighten us with what version of Messenger you are running as well as internet connection type?
Does this problem appear to only happen with certain contacts on your list or all and any of them?

MemberHello msnuser07, welcome;
Can you enlighten us with which version of Messenger and OS you use?
If you are able to view yourself in the wizard just fine, there may be a connection problem between you and your contact. Possibly a block by a firewall.
When you try inviting a contact to view your webcam, does the webcam only show a still image? In this midst of this, is your contact able to hear you through the mic?
Thanks for your question and hopefully we can resolve it!:)

MemberHello fazle, and welcome;
Could you give us details of what version of Yahoo Messenger you are using, make/model of webcam, type of firewall, OS version, etc.
These are necessary details to help us to help you sooner!:)
Are you having a problem with your webcam or signing in? Both? Are you able to use your webcam outside of Yahoo Messenger?

MemberHey there dcman,
Have you tried MSN Messenger’s Audio & Video Setup wizard? (Tools > Audio & Video Setup)
From there you should be able to see what video capturing devices are available for video conversations.

MemberHey there stitch and welcome to BigBlueBall!
Your issue is fairly simple to correct. However, the Control Panel mentioned in the instructions you posted is referring to Windows Control Panel in the Start menu:
Start Menu > Control Panel > Users > Click on your Windows XP username > Click on ‘Manage my network passwords’ > Delete desired email address from login history
OR[/b]
Try this method (type in the red):
Start > Run > control userpasswords2 > Click on the “Advanced” tab > Click ‘Manage Password’

MemberSorry about the misunderstanding of your request RenZ, rather embarassing actually. I guess it pays to re-read the post more than once:eek:. MartinBradley is absolutely right, you have not violated any of the forum policies. Please disregard my previous post in this thread. 😀

Memberhey jackgreat,
If you’d like to get rid of the “Sign In As…”, please use the following procedure:
Quote:quote:Q: A few people have signed into MSN Messenger from my computer. How do I remove their email addresses from the sign-in list?
A: Go to ‘Control Panel’ and choose for ‘Users’. Click on your Windows XP username and then go to ‘Manage my network passwords’. Here you can simply delete the MSN login history.Remove all the addresses plus the Passport.Net* (Passport).
And in the future, do not[/b] click “Sign Me In Automatically” when you go to enter your email and password.
As for removing the “My E-mail Inbox”, there is no solution, atleast which i’m aware of.
Good luck!
