MemberGood News – For the first time I had proper 2-way audio with my contact in Japan on Christmas Day! We both have installed the latest version of MSN Messenger (6.1.0207). (See Tom’s efforts on this forum and elsewhere). She is running Windows 2000 (on a laptop), I use XP Home. Seems like Microsoft have finally sorted it out – maybe helped a bit by this Foum!

MemberLook forward to that, Tom.
I shall probably try again over Christmas with my daughter. I’ll let you know how I get on. Enjoy your grandchildren and have a happy Christmas! BobGritstone
MemberPoint taken, Mr Shifter!
I have taken your advice. Sorry about that – but I am learning!Gritstone
MemberTom – I’ve read your comments on the Dell forum. You certainly have taken this one on board. Good stuff! Let’s hope MS have sorted this out with their new version. I look forward to trying it with my daughter but Japan-time gives us quite a short window – especially during the working week! Kep your progress posted – I’ll do the same. Cheers.

MemberHi Tom
That link you gave was a bit iffy (for me anyway!).
I’ve found your reference at http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board?board.id=dim_audio.
Haven’t read it yet – I shall check it out now.I have installed the new 6.1.0207 version and note that the rtcdll.dll version no. is 5.1.2600.1106. I am hoping that this is correct as I have no record anymore of what ver. no. the ‘bad’ file was.
I shall try a conversation asap but I shall have to get my daughter (in Japan) to install the new version first! Many thanks.Gritstone
MemberTom – this could be good news indeed! I shall download the new version asap and give it a go! This problem has been plaguing me for weeks. Thanks.

MemberI get same problem as Frenchie. I overwrite the dll with the ‘correct’ one only to find that the program re-creates the corrupt ver6.1 version.
Any way to prevent this?! -
