MemberHi,
I also meant sign off and sign in automatically when I said restarting. I wonder why no one has any technical solution to this problem.
I early suspected that my ISP has problem. To check this i pinged to the yahoo messenger server in -t mode and watched whether it is breaking. I saw sign off/sing in automatically on yahoo messegner but there was no break in the communication with yahoo messenger server.
Has anybody faced similar problem and found a solution. please help! this is an SOS call 🙂
thanks.

MemberI think, self policing is the way to go. Bots have started appearing again in large numbers. Like Jimmy said, the spam check option is not working and I also am wondering why the account is not locked if atleast 5 ppl report any bot as spam. The bot should be chucked out immediately and not wait for some engine to run on ther server to remove them out of the room.
It is going to be interesting to watch Yahoo’s next step in ‘Bot against war’

MemberHi Jimmy,
I agree with your points. I chat in IRC and they have this system in which every channel is owned by an opertaor. he/she has full control over the channel due to which the bot attacks are minimized.
Yahoo should think of some more novel ways of stopping bots, like asking for verficiation code, say after every five minutes. This way, the bot starter would have to enter the verificaton code after every five minutes.
I can also see some of the bots returning, and if the old ones take over these chat rooms once again, then this effort is simply a waste. The spam check box option is also of no use. If they start deleting the account based on spam check, then I can get any account deleted by simply clicking the spam check box. I think they are using some kind of statistics before they decide to delete the account based on spam check box.
I think there is hardly any way to stop these bots. The most effective method woudl be to make it a paid service, which I am sure will not be accepted by the cyber space lovers 🙂– gud

MemberHi PolarBear,
I am using windows XP and since I am using my office laptop, I do not fiddle around with any system configuration.

MemberHi all,
I almost forgot about this thread i created until i again faced this problem again!
This seems to be a very irritating weakness in yahoo messenger. Why is it that yahoo hasnt been able to come out with a work around. Is it that their messenger protocol is made public that people are taking advantage of it.
I am sure Yahoo is not sleeping and they are really going to take a serious note of this and would probably change the entire protocol and make the invisible detectors run for their money!!!.
Any more ideas guys… how can i be really invisible!!
cheers
