Another Possible Fix for 1603
1. Click on Start -> Find -> Files or Folders
2. Search for sfc.dll. It should be under c:windowssystem32.
3. Rename sfc.dll to sfc.dll.x [x could be any character(s)]
4. You should be able to do the installs now.
5. After you have installed the software, change sfc.dll.x back to
sfc.dll.
6. Done!
I’m actually trying to re-install a game that I’ve had on my present system. I went to install, and now I get the 1603 error. I tried the above , and now I have a text file that I cant delete or change back to the sfc.dll I still have the original dll file, and now I have the text one as wellHow do I get rid of the text file? The system wont let me. And also-this potential solution didnt work for me either. Please respond to lykynz@aol.com
Thank you.
