MemberHmmm this nickname/screename thing actually isnt a YM 8 problem only, i use version 7.5 and it’s the same there.
As to removing the ad, ppl here seem to have found a way to resolve the cam pause problem https://bigblueball.com/forums/yahoo-messenger-support/36999-yahoo-messenger-8-0-final-ad-remover-2.html?highlight=removerniq6566
MemberHey Kelly,
your problem might just be a yahoo issue that will resolve itself. A few days ago i had the problem that whenever i signed on yahoo messenger, i got an email notification even when i had not recieved any new mails at all. I tried out some things to fix it, but it just went back to normal after a few days without any further tries from my side.
If you experience this problem for a longer period of time tho, it’s probably an issue with your messenger.niq6566
Memberdid you do a full uninstall or just upgraded to version 8?

MemberWell i think there are bot progs like that, a google search will probably come up with some results. You might want to consider tho that even a bot like the one you are planning to use can be highly annoying in chat rooms with many users popping in and out.

MemberThe size patch for versions 6 and 7 was posted in this thread https://bigblueball.com/forums/yahoo-messenger-support/23262-yahoo-messenger-6-size-patch-updated.html?highlight=yahoo+patch%23
Was that the one you were looking for?

MemberHey Rowan, welcome to BBB 🙂
As to your cam problem, have you made sure that you have downloaded the latest cam wrapper? You can test your cam (and download the newest wrapper) here http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/messenger/messenger8/mobileandwebcam/mobileandwebcam-21.html
Do you always try to invite your hubby to the cam by clicking the cam button in the IM window? When I do it that way, i have often a similar problem, it works tho when i first start the cam under “Messenger” –> “My webcam” and send the invite afterwards.
Also, have you tried a full uninstall (including registry cleaning) already?Good luck
P.S. As i know from my own experience, the connections the military use overseas are often very slow and your cam may be seen on his end with a delay of up to 2-5 min, so be prepared to be extra-patient 😉

MemberSounds to me as if there might be a corrupt file either in iTunes or HyperYM.. have you tried a full uninstall of both (including registry cleaning, rebooting and deleting the old folders in Programs)?

MemberIt may just be a problem with the yahoo servers, actually. I get the same error messages from time to time too.
Do you always get these error messages or is it just today? If you get them always, which version of yahoo messenger are you using? Have you changed firewall settings on your computer recently or upgraded yahoo messenger?niq6566
MemberHey beth,
as to your first question, i’d suggest using HyperYM. I’m not completely sure if it works with Music Match, but it works with the usual players, so maybe its worth a try. Check this thread to find out more https://bigblueball.com/forums/yahoo-add-ons-utilities/31818-hyperym-auto-answer-status-manager.html?highlight=hyperYMAs to your second question, i’m not sure if i understood you right. There is an option in yahoo messenger to send your contact list to others (click “actions” in the IM window and choose “send my messenger list”). Never heard tho that there is a correlation between this option and yahoo messenger not being able to log out.

MemberDid you do a search in your programs folders for this Project Lithium program? Maybe it’s there and needs to be uninstalled and removed to stop this annoying issue.
Good luck 🙂

MemberI dont know about any patches or modifications that disable yahoo chat, but if i remember correctly ZoneAlarm can block chat.
If it’s just for your own use, you can simply create an underage account, those arent able to sign into chat at all.
I’m surprised tho that blocking the ports didnt help at all.niq6566
MemberI don’t think there is a way how to change this in yahoo messenger, because actually there is no limit on the number of offline messages.
Maybe it’s similar to the archiving preferences in old messenger where stored messages got deleted after a certain amount of time?July 26, 2006 at 5:38 pm in reply to: Cannot login from my home PC, but can login from any other. #149015niq6566
MemberMaybe a firewall is blocking yahoo on the one PC?
niq6566
Memberumm stupid question, but have you checked “View” (in the message window) and made sure that “Conversation Toolbar” is checked?
niq6566
MemberYou can try a yahoo add-on program called Ytunnel. It has more advanced webcam settings, for example automatically blocking anonymous requests, which might help in your case. This program isnt free tho and i’m not sure if it works with yahoo 8.0.
You said this user is finding you every time even after you changed your name. Did you make up a new account or just another profile? Either way, you should definitely check your system for trojans or keyloggers as Dermot suggested.Good luck and dont let that idiot bring you down 🙂
