MemberIf you have Trillian Pro, you can find more information on the subject in this members’ announcement. Otherwise, I guess you’ll just have to wait and see. 😉 In any case, it’s not in either of the current versions (Free or Pro) of Trillian.
On the other hand, for the moment you can use containers. There are several ways to set them up, and the difference between containers and tabbed windows is very small, except for the look/feel of the buttons. More information can be found in How to Use Containers (from the official help) and also What is a Container? and Tabbed chat windows? Put everything in a container? (from the community-supported FAQs). If this isn’t enough post back and I’ll try to help.

MemberI agree that would be a cool feature, and lots of people have requested it. I haven’t heard any rumours it’s coming in the next version though.
If you have bought Trillian Pro, you can get more info about the upcoming release in this announcements forum.

Hehe, contrary to popular belief mirc is not the only program you can use to connect to IRC. Others (for Windows) include Trillian (my favorite ;)), bitchx, bersirc, hydra IRC and countless others.
Edit: and there are loads more listed in the IRC – Frequently Asked Questions sticky in this forum.quietbritishjim
MemberWell that’s very strange. All I can suggest as a last resort is to reenable the offline folder (right click the contact list and choose contact list options -> hide offline contacts). This puts all your offline contacts in a separate extra group.

Today Yahoo made some changes that affect Trillian’s ability to connect to Yahoo. It seems to affect people that have capital letters in their Yahoo account name. The fix is to simply recreate the connection and use all lower case letters. Here’s how:Trillian Pro:
Right click the Trillian icon in the tray and go to the “Connection Manager”. Click your Yahoo connection and click “Remove”. “Add” the account back just the way it was but use all lower case letters.
Trillian Free:
Go to the Connection Manager and “Remove account from Trillian” and then recreate it in lowercase.
If that doesn’t work post back 🙂

GAIM uses GTK+ so it is theoretically slower, and indeed it feels that way to me.
Quote:quote:Originally posted by megabitchgaim uses less memory
Rubbish, for the same reason as above. With similar a skin and plugins loaded Trillian Pro is more memory efficient.
Quote:quote:Originally posted by megabitchgaim LOADS faster
Not sure about that, but seems unlikely.
Quote:quote:Originally posted by megabitchgaim doesn’t crash
Hahahahahahahahaha! That is the best thing I ever heard! The windows port of GAIM is still in its early stages and I’ve had it crash in the add buddy wizard (reproducably) before I even get the first viewing of the contact list after install. GAIM is far less stable than trillian.
Quote:quote:Originally posted by megabitchgaim looks cool
gaim can use skins tooGAIM’s look is horrific! It uses GTK+ which is slow and pants, it doesn’t have metacontacts so your contact list is disorganised, it doesn’t have as many skins and they’re ridiculously feeble in comparison to trillian’s, and the list goes on and on and on…
There, that’s just as many votes in favour of trillian! Plus trillian has more features and a better communty, there’s two more. I reckon you’ve been banned from the trillian forums under another name and you’re trying your feeble best to get revenge.
I vote Trillian!

MemberMy favorite is English (suprise ;)). A Sunday roast with all the trimmings is my idea of heaven. The only thing that can beat it… steak and ale pie! *drools*
Other than that, I think Indian is the nicest. I don’t like it so hot I can’t taste the meat, but a nice curry with all the extras (naan, rice and a popadom starter with the dips) is lovely.

MemberPerhaps he’s just offline? If you turn the offline folder back on does he move back to there? Or maybe he’s online but away?
Trillian doesn’t support different icons for different groups, so if his icon really has changed the only other thing I can think of is that maybe you’ve changed skins. This changes all the icons in the buddy list.

MemberTo people other than Jeff: sorry for the spam!!
Quote:quote:Originally posted by JeffActually, it does work, but you’ve uncovered a bug. The forum software (Snitz) chokes on .co.uk domains (possibly others, but that’s at least one I’m aware of). I’ll add this to my bug-fix list.
I don’t think this is a problem with the board at all. I’ve got both of the two emails you sent me, but when I replied directly to jeff@bigblueball.com it bounced straight back. This also happened when I tried to email you on 7th July after my board email failed. Here’s the more recent message:

Lol, what a brilliant piece of reasoning! Someone complains that the skinning support in trillian isn’t flexible enough, so you tell them to use a client that can’t be skinned at all! I think you may need to take a quick character test mate.

MemberI’m pretty certain you do have to host it yourself somewhere I’m afraid. You can then just type the html tag straight into your profile i.e.

I was just adding it as a suggestion (this is the trillian forum after all ;)), I wasn’t saying it’s necessarily the best option. I know of people that do it and even some that say the only reason they still use Windows is to keep using Trillian, so there must be important differences. I must admit I don’t really know what they are, since I’ve hardly used *nix on my computer… I totally hate linux :p.
From what I’ve seen of the linux builds GAIM though, trillian would seem to be a better option for the hardcore IMer (although trillian does admittadly have less media). If I was using linux I think I would go for GAIM too, since trillian free isn’t that much better and like I said Pro doesn’t work properly. I guess it depends where your priorities lie.

MemberQuote:quote:Originally posted by whatever7Or, you can use Trillian under wine on linux, a since OSX is a variation on linux it should work there too. I would suggest using the free version rather than pro for this though, since the menus in pro won’t work in these conditions.
Perhaps a mod could merge this with the original thread?
Edit: I’ve just read your posts on the “alternative IM apps” board, and I see now you’re just a spammer who seems to have a grudge against trillian for some reason. Maybe a mod’s time would be better spent just deleting your account and banning your IP.
quietbritishjim
MemberI can see myself online, so this isn’t a general bug in trillian. You could try clicking the yahoo medium icon (i.e. the red circle) and choosing “refresh buddy list”. Make sure you’ve added yourself with all lowercase letters.
