It is not really applicable to use a monitoring software to a person who is not aware that he/she is being monitored. It will just cause privacy issues, promoting a low self esteem to that person and also trust. Any person using monitoring software should also be fully aware of what is monitored and when they are being monitored.
If you really want to be sure that your daughter was not doing bad things in the web cam like what Jeff said just put the computer in an open area that their will be always a person so that it would not be hard to monitor. Then you should talk to your daughter and explain what is right and wrong in using the computer so that she would be aware what will happened if she do things that unnecessary and just trust her.
When you are still planing to put a monitoring software just let her know and maybe this will help a screen monitoring software that is not intrusive it is called time doctor. It has a screen monitoring that take accurate picture of what a person do in the computer. Also it can track website that is actively being use and in which website a person spend time most.
