SO if an ip address is nothing more than a way for comps to communicate with one another, then what are all the hack blocks i see on the list that my firewall blocks? i mean they are all from foreign lands it seems and it shows their ip address and the attempted hacked port? and there are tons of them every second as im sure you all receive also, so what are those people behind their ip’s trying to do? hack right?
Hey just for shoots and giggles, lemme put this wild one out there, you think are capabilities out there that allow people with AIM buddy lists to not only see when their buddies sign on, but also, simultaneously, the ip that goes with them also, also like an” ip buddylist”? just a thought..
Secondly…im aware that as of now, without a link in a aim profile, its impossible to see who views it, allegedly b/c aol has not created anything that has embedded tracking yet, m y question is, is there any update to this, are there embedded ways yet to track views without a link?
David, you said maybe they can tell if youre online, well, i hope your not misunderstanding me, what im trying to say is, if you wanna watch someone online, from a screen name they arent aware u have, they there is no way for them to know ur watching them or anyone else on that list of your b/c its via a name they dont associate with you, they can only tell ur online if they see the usual SN on that u use to chat wit them correct?
or are u also saying, no matter how many “covert/ secret” names u have, as long as they know the name u usually use with them, they can track your online status no matter how mnay new and diff. sn’s you were to make?

Tigerblade, im trying to understand what ur saying in this post, are u saying u made an invisible counter/tracker? whats php? what do mean by writing? b/c me and you have gone a few rounds on this topic of viewing profiles and the possibility of being secretly tracked, and i was feeling good about the resounding no’s, but this post, (hopefully im misunderstanding it) sounds like embedded secret trackers are out there?
kicking up my feet and relaxing, i don’t think i still no how to do that these days….if i find any other interesting evidence, ill link it up for to take a peek at.

to make it short and sweet but honest, its an ex- girlfriend, she always wanted to know who was on my AIM buddylist and i never told her cause i thought it was kinda invading my privacy, so i was convinced since she was so adamant about it, i figured she must have found a way to get it from me thru my ip, cause in the past i have had DIRECT CONNECTION message exchanges with her, and maybe she’ not as smart as im thinking, but looking back, i wonder what if she was and somehow has access to all my computer info, there’s my reasons for the ip quests.
what the difference betwn the two, a direct connection and an AIM chat wit a buddy?, doesnt the AIM convo wit a buddy go through a servr before it goes to them, the server acts a middleman correct? but yet a DC skips the middleman(the server)?
T.blade….i read on that site u gave me, there is a sentence in there that goes onto say how “it can significantly impact security” and im not exactly sure if i hafta unplug the router or anything, so based soley on that sentence alone?, i am kinda backing away from doin but yet, still have the urge to see for the heck of it, like i said, im not posting this stuff becasue im think im being tracked by someone, heck, we all may be, i commented on a post a few days back about third parties being able to watch AIM convos between buddies, may u saw it, but this stuff interests me and also, i wanna make sure i have all bases covered securitywise on my system.
