MemberThis site is using Online Status Indicator. You can also check your status using any of the public OSI hosts.

MemberWelcome Jim!
Tony
MemberThere used to be a software called IRCOSI that does this, but it has been discontinued.
I’ll see what I can do in a future version of OSI.

MemberThe web hosting had changed ip addresses without letting me know…
…and I’ve been on vacation and unaware of this…
I’ve updated the records for http://www.onlinestatus.org (it takes some time for DNS to refresh, try http://onlinestatus.org/ if the real addy doesn’t work)
Tony
MemberThe reason why your messages were deleted is that you posted the same message in four different threads and none of them were even about onlinestatus.org.
The point of onlinestatus.org is that it supports *ALL* the IM services.
P.S. You don’t have to sign up for anything to use Online Status Indicator. Just create an imagelink to http://www.onlinestatus.org:4000/aim/yourscreenname

MemberLog on is not required to access http://www.onlinestatus.org. Is was a misconfig on the server. It is fixed now.

MemberThis forum is dedicated to the Online Status Indicator made by the onlinestatus.org project. Thread closed.
Tony
MemberThere is a thread about this in the official OSI forums. Let’s continue there.

MemberYes, they are networked via onlinestatus.org. Your OSI should be able to run even if should be onlinestatus.org down, but you will loose the failover solution. Your OSI will automatically failover to another OSI host if your host cannot handle all incoming requests.
There are currently some performance problems that I am working on. It is currently not possible to have your host completely independent. If you don’t want your hosts to failover to the OSI network just add this line in your status.conf.
failoverhost=http://www.yourosihost.com:8080/

Member1. Make sure Java 1.3 or later is installed on the server. Display java version by typing java -version
2. Download status.jar and a sample status.conf.
3. Edit the status.conf with your settings.
4. Upload status.jar to a directory of your choice on the server.
5. Upload your status.conf to the same directory.
6. Start your OSI: java -jar status.jarTony
MemberIt is possible (for MSN), but I am still not sure how I can implement this in an intuitive way…
Tony
MemberYou need to be able to run programs on the server through some kind of shell (telnet) access. In other words, you can’t set it up if you only have a web account…
For more info, check out the Hosting forum in the new forum at http://www.onlinestatus.org/

MemberI agree! Trillian is a very good program. It is far better than each of the “real” messengers.
And also, it is much better to have it all-in-one, than running four or five messengers.
Tony
MemberTrillian is compatible with AIM, ICQ, IRC, MSN and Yahoo.
