MemberThere could be many a reason for this lynn however one main reason could be that you installed the current yahoo you have on top of the version you were using before. This may be the root cause of your problem.
The best way to deal with this is this.
1) double left click my computer icon, double left click Local C drive Icon, Double left click my programs folder. Scroll down and you wil see Yahoo Folder. Double Left click that folder, double left click on Messenger folder.
2) Once in there You will more than likely if you have Archive on a folder called Profiles – it’s this folder that all your archives is saved. Either Drag and drop that folder to desktop or Copy and paste it to desktop. Ensure its there before you go any further.
3) Once done click on the back button till you see messenger folder, and click on the back button again till you see the Main Yahoo Folder. Once you see that.. minimise that window.
4) Go to Control Panel and Click on Add/remove and scroll down the list and click on yahoo to highlight and remove Yahoo… All of it.
5) Once Removed, open the window you minimised and you will see the yahoo folder, right hand click on it and click on delete. Once you have deleted it empty your recycle bin.
To download the current version of yahoo which is 1750 click on this link and you will download automatically ( download it to desktop )
http://download.yahoo.com/dl/installs/ymsgr/ymsgr_1750.exe
Also if you hates the yahoo 6 version of the main messenger box being huge and you wish to reduce it then you will need this other program which is the mini size patch.
the url for that is
http://www.angelfire.com/creep/yahoo_heretic/
once there click on >>Download<<
( However if you wish to return to the good ole 5.5 yahoo then the best version is 1358 or 5.6.0.1358 as it is known ) Click on this url
http://www.freecreed.com/ymsgr-archive.html
and scroll down and click on 5.6.0.1358 ( Please do not worry, Freecreed is a reputable site )
6) Once you have those downloads, Reboot your computer totally ( this will ensure you are clean from yahoo.
7) When you have rebooted and return to desktop. Click on Yahoo and Install. ( If you are on windows 98 or Win ME you will have a message giving you a choice of how to instal version 6 Yahoo, I heartily recommend the full version )
8) Once You have installed.
9) when you have got that far – double left click my computer icon, double left click Local C drive Icon, Double left click my programs folder. Scroll down and you wil see Yahoo Folder. Double Left click that folder, double left click on Messenger folder.
10 ) When in there Copy and paste OR drag and drop your Profiles folder thats currently on Desktop in there. Once You have done that
11 ) Scroll down to the bottom you will see a file named yupdater.exe – This file is a file where when yahoo updates it will notify you or notify you of any warnings – if you do not wish for that then DELETE that file, however if you do wish to keep it then leave it be. and close the folder Window down.
12) Click on the mini size patch – a box will appear, once it does click on the patch button ( quick note patch is only relevant to version 6 of yahoo NOT 5.5 ) It will then search and say successful. Once it does that click on the x button to close it down.
13 ) Log on the net and log on yahoo. Yes Yahoo will still be huge even when you have done the patch – Firstly.. sort your settings out in preferences and ensuring your archives are SWITCHED on once more.
14) Once down put your mouse cursor at the TOP or bottom of the main messenger box ( it doesnt matter which end you use ) and slowly you will see the single headed arrow turn into a double headed arrow.
15) Once you sees that STOP there… click on your left side of the mouse and HOLD IT DOWN – Once Held down you can reduce the size of the messenger box to the size thats preferable to you.
16 ) You should find that now your status is now properly fixed and working well.
If not come back to Bigblueball and we shall shall try and help you further.
Hope this is of help
PS To Jeff: thankyou for your help earlier, Thanks

MemberYes there has been some changes in yahoo mail, for some countries an increase of 150 megabytes in the mail to compete with MSN’s Hotmail which only recently increased the size of theirs too.
If you are not getting your sent mails saved. Here is what you do
1) Get into your email acount
2) Click on the drop down arrow on mail and click on options
3) Mail Options Will appear
4) Click on General Preferences
5) When in there Look down where it says Inbox/Folders
6) Ensure there’s a checkmark or tick where it says Special Folders Save your sent messages in the Sent Items folder
7) Click on Save and all your mail you sent will be saved.
All it means is that you have to go into sent folder and decide after the emails you have sent you DONT want saved.
Hope thats helped

Memberagrees that before this version buddy spy was a bit stable, and more successful in getting the result.
Here are a few things I have noticed when using the latest version
1) If you are loading up a list you will get more false positives for example if the first person on the list is online the next one on the list under will be online even though they are not ( have tried this on myself ) so it may be the timing needs to be changed
2) On the old buddy spy when it checked to see if the person was in chat and if they are then the bot would enter the room and then leave the room but on this new one it enters and then sits in the room and stays there ( a possible reason for when you try other ids for false negatives perhaps )
People have been asking about why does a profile state they are online yet buddy spy says they are not. There is a lot of glitches on the profile servers as of late. So its best to take profiles with a pinch of salt.. and be more reliant on buddy spy.
Another thing for the readers, you have to remember that chat rooms are generally allocated 40 people in a room so when you search someone the room may give you a false positive saying they aren’t in chat when they are. The recommened thing to do is give it a try a minute later and the room may be free and allow your bot to slip into the room and confirm they are in there.
Sakred heres another thing On your buddy spy is it possible for when you load up a list to scan for it to remeber the last place it found the file instead of having to go thru folders to find it?
On the whole the new one does have a smoother feel.. Well done for getting this far Sakred.

Memberhippo.. that is a site I have known about and is helpful in getting profiles, sadly it doesnt get them all especially if a friend has their profile in the adults section and you needs to sign in. however all in all it does work for other profiles that arent adults not all but most.. but given that it’s a damn sight better than yahoo currently.

MemberSarah…
Are you with NTL or more than likely BT by anychance, if so then yes you will have a problem accessing yahoo profiles. This fault has been problematic in the past few days.
If You are with BT you may just be in luck, you can email yahoo, but remember.. the first three replies to Yahoo are computer generated and will blame something else UNTIL you gets to a human on the forth or 5th email you sends to them after they have first replied.
But if You are with BT you may be in luck.. as they are sposed to be BT/Yahoo and working together.. You may be better off sending this to BT and having a better chance of a response and an action to it.
Who knows with Yahoo… but I would put money on BT doing something before yahoo ever will and hopefully get it sorted.

MemberBigAl n3td3v is correct that is one way of doing it.. it does work because a friend of mine went through this as well. Heres the advice they also gave
a) Change number = be more discreet this time or use a cell phone with a different sim because that way you can block them at your own leisure
b) Put yahoo messenger on friends only
now my friend said theres people that she talked to but rather not have on her yahoo friends list so heres what they said
Purchase Y tunnel and by having that you can put them on a friends list and put every one on ignore you can also screen pmers you dont know and choose to disregard or answer the pm.
My friend not only changed her number but bought y tunnel which is 17 bucks for its life time use and now after going thru all that shes feeling at ease and in control of her computer and pms without having that sick feeling.
Y tunnel will block those Pms al and for 17 bucks it’s worth the piece of mind.

MemberHey Sakred
Last night I had a hell of a glitch with internet explorer in which I had no choice but to remove the internet explorer in its entireity and yes Microsoft hates you messing but I was left with no choice well it was that or a total reformat and I wasn’t in the mood for a reformat. Once I removed it all I knew I would have lost a few files and .dlls that are associated with Buddy Spy. I installed them all in not a problem.
However I came across something unusual, I clicked on BuddySpy and a box came up saying unexpected Error. No Message no nothing except for that and that alone. I thought I glitched my Explorer reinstall.. but it showed me I hadn’t, so I racked my brains on what files do I install for my programs on my puter and I couldnt think. So then I had one file left to try which I had installed way earlier but didn’t think the files would be removed when I totally removed IE and it was this file Visual Basic 6 Runtimes. Once I installed that the Buddy Spy ran perfectly fine. I just wanted you to know incase anyone comes to you with a button saying Unexpected Error and no other message and that the possiblity of BddySpy not running is due to a corrupt or their computer doesn’t have the Visual Basic 6 Runtimes files.
By the way bro have you checked your email, I sent you all the skins in email that you are missing, I collected them all and noticed on your site you were asking for them sent it to the mail you had on your home page for people to send in case they had it.
For other people who may be experiencing missing .dll files here are the urls Follow the pages instructions for them and all is fine.

TABCTL32.OCX

and for Visual Basic 6 Runtimes files

Memberahem:o thanks shifter that was the actual site I was going to give snickers, the ascentive site is pretty much a good one for missing files yes well erm I forgot the link “whistles” thanks though shifter.
travellerscross
Membersnickers click on this url and it on that page you will be able to download your missing ‘MSCOMCTL.OCX’ and continue reading it and follow the instructions on that page for after you have downloaded, by the way, if you are using XP and once you have followed the instructions you may recieve a temporary glitch. Don’t worry, totally reboot xp and then run buddyspy.
Attn to UnSaKreD
Sakred, how about implementing the ability to scan as many id’s as you wish or within reason rather than the one id alone, also the ability for the program to reatin a list of ids you scan now and then as to save having to type them in all the time and just pick out the ids you wish to scan from your so called id list if that was possible to create.
EDIT: Whoops, you forgot the link! Here is one that should do the trick snickers – Install MSCOMCTL.OCX

Memberon 5.6 versions there is NO problems with pm boxes at all that is a known fact, however it appears to me that you have already tried version 6 in which there ARE problems with the pm box size and it gets bigger and bigger
All you haves to do is save your profiles folder from yahoo folder if you have archives on onto desktop. and save your skins too then Remove yahoo from add/remove, delete the yahoo folder from programs file folder and reboot , once rebooted reinstal version 1358 and you should be ok.
I haves a funny feeling you reinstalled 1358 back on top of version 6 which would explain why your pm boxes are getting bigger. hopes that helps.

Memberok if you haves only the top one ticked.. then after 10 minutes of no computer use you will go into idle.
Without the top box ticked you never goes into idle providing the second box is ticked … the dont show im idle.
travellerscross
MemberOk amy I may need some clarification and Could be wrong here, but as far as I’m aware thats only for you NOT to go into idle mode when you haves left your computer for lets say a minute or two.. ok ill give you an example of what I mean , lets say you haves yahoo 5.6 running with the fake idle program running and on your friends list you happens to have your own name..now when you goes into idle mode, on messenger you will see your name go into idle, saying Idle and with the idle emote next to your name, but what is IMPORTANT is this when you put your mouse arrow on your name.. it will give you the message saying you are in IDLE and telling you more importantly how long you have been in idle mode for, this is what your friends can see on their list and they can tell how long you have been away. I have never ever seen anyone go into proper yahoo idle mode without seeing the time of how long you have been away. In all my time on yahoo I can honestly say I haven’t everytime someone goes on idle I puts my mouse on their name and it will tell me how long they have been on idle for
travellerscross
MemberHavent checked that one out but there does need to be a point to be made and it’s simply this there are plenty of programs claiming to do Idle and the fact is having the word Idle doesnt cut it.. then there are programs thats offering the blue icon and going into Fake idle.. althought that may work for some it still doesn’t cut it and its simply this, On the old version of 5.6 when you went into fake idle mode not only did you have the word idle and the idle icon appear.. you had the most ESSENTIAL thing needed for this and it was the Timer, the timer to say how long you have been in idle for. As much as yahoo is prone to problems the Idle mode is usually one of the things on yahoo thats not prone to faults.. the Time of how long you have been idle with the idle emote Always appears.. if you don’t have all 3 then simply it’s not worth the time or trouble. you will get sussed out even by the most naive users unless all 3 works.. till then its a wait to find one that does all that.
