After doing a reformat on this computer, I just downloaded Yahoo! Messenger v1710 and it didn’t add anything or force me install the toolbar, default mail, and etc like the previous version did. I guess that Yahoo! has gotten a lot of complaints about that. 🙂
If you install the Performance Enhanced Version, it doesn’t load the skins or the content tabs. Runs faster and obviously uses far less resources. you can add either 1 back in Preferences.

As far as I know there is no enhanced performance version of Messenger only a feature limited version. Where can I find this enhanced performance version?
