i am on AIM 5.2 something and i like it, but i was wondering if i should upgrade? i read all the furoms, and im not sure if its worth it. what does everyone think?
February 8, 2004 at 10:20 pm #50013Grim ReaperMemberIf you don’t use add-ons, then you should just upgrade. If you do use add-ons, stick with 5.2 for now until some of them are compatible with 5.5.
February 8, 2004 at 10:24 pm #50015alana0601Participantwhy dont you just upgrade and see if you like it then downgrade if you hate it?… its not that hard
February 8, 2004 at 10:54 pm #50012BrianMemberI have tried the latest BETA of AIM 5.5, still don’t like it. Too many bugs. It seems like AIM is going down the tube.
February 8, 2004 at 11:01 pm #50017f0rbezMemberid give it a try and see if you like it. you might like some of the new features. i personally use screen name linking alot, but video and games i havent used yet. the only unbearable thing about 5.5 is the ad window. i dont remember if it was that big in 5.2 but all you need is reshack to change it or download it from one of these sites that people have been posting.
February 9, 2004 at 6:01 am #50019colinMemberok, thanks everyone. i dont think im gonna upgrade cause 1) my computers already messed up enough and 2) i wanna get add-ons, such as jumper, the one mentioned a while ago on the forums. thanks again

I’ve told you before, READ the thread, Brian already provided a link.
February 11, 2004 at 1:34 am #50016IMQueenMemberIf I wanted to reshack AIM 5.5, what would I have to look for to get rid of that stupid Internet Explorer ad window that keeps popping up? I killed Wild Tangent and AOD, but I still get that ad.
February 11, 2004 at 5:44 am #50021princessduckyMemberThanks Brian and Colin for the info. Finally got my old AIM back! Thank you guys!
February 12, 2004 at 12:03 am #50024ma_guy1975MemberIs it just me or does this new AIM lend itself to much to dishonesty and sneakyness? One thing I liked about AIM was that it was all or nothing. If you didn’t want to chat with someone, you could block them, and they would also appear offline, they couldn’t see you, you couldn’t see them. Now you can hide from all, and lurk in the shadows. Lends itself to abuse and paranoia. I can see the future of my aimlist being empty, everyone being invisible, and having to guess who’s on or not.
