Put “admin” for password. leave username blank.
Find your way to Port Forwarding.. or Applications & Gaming.. it depends what router you have.
Put AIM in the name slot. Put port range 5190-5190 ..
Check the TCP box.
Find out your ip address by going to Command Prompt (Start>Run>cmd then type in ipconfig and hit enter) ..
The last three digits of your IP type in the last box.
Click the Enable box. then click Apply Changes.I am still having a prb with reconnecting… I did all of that above… please help!!

MemberI have been running into this same issue for about a year now and i cannot understand it.
After researching a few other boards and peoples opinions I have tried so many different things to find that I am back to square one. I have found a source that said it could be the ViewMedia Player within AIM and i uninstalled that and still same issue. I decided id leave it as is for a while until now, I recently installed a brand new OS on a new hard drive, Windows XP 64 Bit and the old OS was 32bit so its not because of 64 Bit, anyways ITS A FRESH install and i still run into the same issue after installing aim, which shows it can only be my netgear router…I HOPE…… I ordered a different router and I am waiting for it to come in the mail soon, once it does ill report back and let you guys and girls know if it truly is the routers fault.
PS: my AIM ports are already open and have always been. Thats why i started to think that maybe its not a network issue and more of a software issue, once i installed a brand new OS i figured it has to be network related. Anyways ill let you guys know if netgear is at fault here when i get my new router.

MemberWell i just upgraded from my old NetGear router to a TRENDnet one and believe me its MUCH better! 🙂
The problem with AIM reconnecting is now gone and i noticed a lot of things starting to work with AIM such as plugins are loading smoother and signin and signout music sounds work flawlessly !
It was the router at fault after all and Id recommend anyone to upgrade to a better router if you have this AIM issue that I used to run into. I also would like to mention that I believe it might have been a feature on the router that fixed this issue called QoS (Quality Of Service). If anyone else wishes to ask me any questions feel free to E-Mail me over at DMXHood@gmail.com.
