Unique, does mean one of a kind. And as far as being one of a kind, so what?!?! As long as you get an sn, you should be fine. It’s not like a short sn, such as ddr, is a treasure.
Maybe ‘unique’ wasnt the right word, as I did re-read it and was’nt too pleased, but thats ridiculous. Of course its not about having a screen name. Its about convenience of when you see someone in _person_ to give them your SN as Circle “yeah my SN is circle” i rather catch myself saying that then my sn is “sadkj2283823”. The other thing is, Its all about looks on the net, hence vhosts and shells. Why would anyone pay for host spoofing when they have their own hosts? If its to be worried about being packeted you can get a firewall up but why pay for a vhost? Because its all about looks on the net and this is why ppl hack/buy ICQ #s as well.
Really? Interesting last I checked people actually wanted ‘good’ domain names, and easy to remember ones. Why would I want XCSystems45983458345934859348534958.com when I could get XCSystems.com. Its about simplicity and style.

The whole point is that people get a screenname they like. The more they have to adjust it because it is invalid or already in use, the less they like the actual screenname. If ‘snSeLLer’ has the screenname ‘ddr’ and someone here has ‘ddr48839’ and would like to have ‘ddr’, then both parties are happy. snSeLLer is happy because he earned money and the buyer is happy because he finally got ‘ddr’, thanks to snSeLLer who preserved it.
My point? snSeLLer has every right to sell his property to anyone who wants it. Don’t want it? No need to reply saying so.
The Domain scenerio was to show that people in this day and age like everything simple and one of a kind. ICQ #s AIM Names E-mails Domains etc.
Why is this such a phenomena I don’t understand? People have been selling online gaming accounts, ICQ #s, AIM SNs, E-mails etc. etc. on Ebay/Amazon and all over the internet for ages now. AND PEOPLE BUY THEM WHICH IS WHY THIS WILL CONTINUE TO HAPPEN. And SNSeller wasn’t on crack when he decided to do this. People pay hundreds if not thousands of dollars for this sort of thing, so OF COURSE people are gonna sell them.

You should try to sell them on EBay. You might have some good luck on there.
You are probably right it is illegal to sell AIM screen names without written permission from AOL (or America Online).
OK here’s my 2 cents. As long as AOL doesn’t have rules against it, he has the right to do whatever he wants… but with something like this, it’s not like a gaming account or a diablo II character that people have put time into, its three freaking letters. Why not just give away the screen names if you aren’t using them? You didn’t pay a dime for them, and Daniel Damien Rutherford, or Dennis Deacon Rudolph can have a screen name with his initials. Or whatever they want to use them for. I do, however, think that when you get right down to it, the screen names are probably the property of AOL, but I’m not sure about that, I’d love some info if anyone has it.
Anyway, I don’t think people who sell screen names are stupid. On the contrary, they’re very smart, because they know there are some stupid people who will buy them from them.
Hey i reeeeaaaaaalllllly!!!!! want a 3 letter sn. But i aint gunna pay for a sn that u got for fre if there are any 3 letter sns youd give to me for free i would appriciate it
Selling sn’s is not only for creativity, or originality or to meet some status level, it is for hacks, getting ligit sns has become a chore in the underworld, why spend hours on end making sns when you could pay somebody else to do it, and have totaly unique bots? it is a very good alternative.
