I’ve got tons of stuff that I want in my profile, but I need to b able to put about 500 more characters
May 9, 2004 at 4:27 am #79910LowerCrassBratMemberThe character limit can be worked around but there is a size limit as well
If you have xp goto…
C:Documents and SettingsYour XP User NameApplication DataAIMYour Screen NameInfo.htm
and modify the “Infor.htm” file in notepad… or something.May 9, 2004 at 5:04 am #79906alana0601Participanti thought that only worked in earlier versions of aim. if you have like versions above 5.2 you cant do it anymore I dont think.
May 9, 2004 at 5:09 am #79898DavidParticipantYou cannot break the 1042 Char limit because the AOL server only accepts 1KB (1024 Bytes) if data before it truncates it.
Editing the info.htm HTML profile data works in 5.5.X. But it can still be only 1024 Char’s.
May 9, 2004 at 7:08 pm #79912bronxyMemberIf you edit info.htm you can have as much as you want. I put over 3,000 words in my profile, signed on aim and it still worked.
also found out how to get past 200 buddies. I got 450 on my list!
May 9, 2004 at 9:33 pm #79905alana0601Participanti dont believe that. I really dont think thats possible. even if it did work the info.htm only allows you a certain amount of characters even though its more than the 1024 your profile allows…
please explain how you got 450 people on your list cause thats something ive never heard of. it resets every time you sign on I thought.
May 9, 2004 at 11:02 pm #79899Someguy03MemberEven if he had 3,000 words in his profile it doesn’t matter, AIM cuts away the rest of the profile if it is too long / large. And hes lying when he says he got his buddylist to 450.

May 9, 2004 at 11:58 pm #79911SpanawayMemberUm, yeah, if you somehow found a way to hack into AOL’s servers and modify your buddylist from there.. Then I doubt you’d even HAVE 450 people to put on there. 😉
May 21, 2004 at 1:05 am #79914TropicalMemberIf info.htm is on your computer then why do people say its on the AOL servers?
May 21, 2004 at 1:09 am #79908DangerBoyMemberPeople don’t say that. If you had read Davids reply, you would have noticed this:
Quote:quote:the AOL server only accepts 1KB (1024 Bytes) of data before it truncates it.That means that you can make info.htm as big as you want on your computer, but AOL will only accept the first 1024 bytes. Is that clear enough?

It SENDS it to the AOL server.
May 23, 2004 at 8:53 pm #79915QuiksilverMemberSome websites let you get an added AIM profile sometimes called sub profile. You’ve probably seen it yourself. Somewhere in a persons subprofile there should be a link of how to get one. Also some other sites let you get “unlimited” profiles, but I haven’t tried it yet. Just go to google and try searching if your interested
