*rubs her head* About the only way I’m going to get a 360 is if I win one in that Mt. Dew thing…or I get one free the way I got my Xbox…both of which aren’t about to happen any time soon.
Okay, here’s the thing…why get a 360…when you already have a computer, honey? Honestly. Okay, so the sports buffs and the shooters have their fun, but it generally takes more than shooters and sports buffs to make a console. That’s just sad. Personally, I’m not impressed with the Xbox, and I’m not impressed with the 360 from what I’ve read, heard and seen.
That and, here’s a little something something for you. The E3 faceplate that Microsoft were handing off at the E3 party they had…don’t even fit the damn box. Seriously. No, seriously seriously. If they can’t get something as cheesy as a faceplate to fit on their own product…I mean..really, that’s just rediculous. Maybe they’re rushing it a bit, maybe they’re just slap dashin it, I don’t know, but they need to chill and no worry so much about the release date. As we all know, it’s just going to get pushed back anyway. That and it’s ugly…and bigger than my VCR. (Yes I have a VCR, I watch my copy of fantasia on it.)
The PS3 on the otherhand does seem promising. Firstly, it’s not just another mega super uber computer from hell. Secondly, everyone’s seen the promising awsomeness that is the FF7 opening demo *made me positively moist*. Thirdly, it’s not as horrendous looking as the 360. Fourth, they’re taking their time on the dang thing. Fifth…I’m a big fan of the games they have. They have a range, not just one or two types, they let new developers in and give em a chance, they’re more forgiving with the multipul platform games..things like that. *shrug* I’m a fan, I’m 99% sure I’m going to be saving for it, but not to say it doesn’t have it’s downsides. The controler bugs the heck out of me for one.
The Nintendo, Revolution…just saying the name “nintendo” brings a tear to my eye. Okay, I don’t care what folks say… … I love the miniatureness of the game cube and what revolution seems to be coming up with. I love the kiddy giddyness of it all. Sometimes I just want to suck ghosts up with a giant vacuum with my under appreciated brother, Luigi dang it!
Though they probably don’t -need- the Revolution to rule the school since they basically have the hand held gaming systems in the bag. I mean…really…people have tried. Remember the Sega Game Gear? *skeptical look* Y-Yeah. No thanks, I’d rather take my game boy advanced and slap in some Pokemon or Advanced Wars. But thanks anyway. *salute* If I want to play something that totally bores the hell out of me, I’ll play my old Socretes, thanks. And…yes…I do have one. Though I will admit…they were on the right course with the whole wireless controler thing, not to mention the keyboard. *shrug* A-anyway.
Really, the way I see it is that Nintendo’s basically just so farken hot and have so much going on that they can afford to experiment and go crazy. Remember the minidisks for the Cube? The Cube itself? The new controler? Honestly.
If Nintendo wanted to make a quick buck, they’d just rerelease the First Nintendo. I mean…c’mon, there are enough people hanging onto their old cartrages and their busted up consoles that they have to blow into until they pass out, come to, then blow into some more, stick a couple straws in there, wiggle the chords and then maybe it’ll work. Really now, just remaking the Nintendo Orig. would be a hot idea. I’d totally splurge for one just for the nastalgic value…and…for my Zelda game *sniffles and holds her golden cartrage close*Either way, I think that PS3 is going to rule the school on this one, kids. Close second, thanks to all the murder mayhem and football jerks, will be an unworthy 360…and…if we’re lucky, Revolution will hold in there for a while.

November 10, 2005 at 8:09 pm #133202DrBroccoliParticipantThat was awesome RabidKitten, not only true in most places, but halarious as well! Just to make sure, you know the Revolution will play game from NES to Revolution, and all that’s inbetween, so essentialy they are re-releasing the NES. Also, its not that Nintendo doesn’t let other developers in, its just that there is a HUGE sterotype that Nintendo is all kiddy, so you know what I say? Why don’t these other delvelopers get in and start making games for Nintendo?! You are oh so right about Nintendo pwning the Handheld market, anyone remember Sony’s first attempt to conquer it (just like they try to conquer everthing else that runs on electricty), urrg, I looked but I couldn’t find that link, but it is their second, the first only supported part of FF8, then died off. Also, I love how games say “Multi Platform” but in reality its on Xbox and PS2, I love how they exclude Nintendo! Nintendo is like the new kid in gym class who no one picks, but ends up being the greatest, who rocks at everything and annililates them all.

Actually Shadow, as of right now, I’d say the handheld market is pretty even. Half Nintendo, Half Sony. With the DS, yes there are some nice games for it, but personally I think most waste all that screen space. Like they make the race stats huge on it or make a huge map. Also game development with it hasn’t impressed me. (Yes, I do HAVE one so I DO know about it) With the PSP, it’s now more of a portible movie player. The games were good at the begining (much the same way with the DS) then they had a few good ones here and there (like the DS has done). I am NOT impressed at ALL with the handheld market. *still holds up Nin-Gen sign* (like Next-Gen, just “nin” for nintendo)November 10, 2005 at 9:47 pm #133203DrBroccoliParticipantOh Ryan, you must not forget the Wifi release, just this week. Not only will Nintendo make their own hotspots, but they have already teamed up with McDonalds to provide free WiFi for all DS owners in over 6,000 McDonalds already, not to mention if you have a router already, you are set. With the release of Wifi, also for the Revolution, it will bring better games, globally multiplayer games, and possibly DS to DS global chat. :). You must also remember the DS is not the most common Nintendo Handheld, with it being newer, the majority have Gameboy Advances/SPs, so you have to add those into their Handheld market dominations.

Still, I’m saying the games for the two haven’t appealed that much to ME. You know what I’m going to say now. My famous quote :p. “We all have our preferences” – MrEggsalad
November 10, 2005 at 10:43 pm #133195AwesomeSauceParticipantAs for handhelds, I think the Nintendo DS and the Sony Playstation Portable are both targeted toward different audiences. The PSP is more of a media center that plays videos, music, and other stuff like that. The DS focuses more on gaming, and is 100 bucks less. 🙂
Anyway, maybe someone could bring us back on topic…?
November 10, 2005 at 10:58 pm #133211MrEggsaladParticipantYou know, like I have said before, the prices of the games for the PS3 and Xbox 360 will be crazy. I heard $60 per game! I will NOT pay THAT much. I would also like to find out the price for Nintendo’s games. Anyone know? Your views?
November 11, 2005 at 1:43 am #133204DrBroccoliParticipantI feel as though this topic is biased, can we get the title with Nintendo in it? Lol. Anyway, I heard companies want to bring up the prices of games, eeeek, already pushing $50. Now that I think about this can we trn this into a general next-generation system thread?

November 11, 2005 at 3:16 pm #133176Jeff HesterKeymasterI recently read this article (which has started a rumor) that stated that Sony has currently filed a patent that basically wont allow you to play rented, borrowed, or used games on the PS3.
From part of the patent:
A device and method for protection of legitimate software against used software and counterfeit software in recording media… A specific title code is read, and if this title code has been registered, the main unit shifts to a normal operation. If the code has not been registered, verification software is initiated… If matching does not occur, the disk is processed as illegitimate software… Since only titles for which legitimate software has actually been purchased and which have been initially registered in the machine table can be used, resale (so-called used software purchase) after purchase by an end-user becomes practically impossible.”
If they decide to use this patent, they might as well just have put a shotgun barrel in their mouth. If you think they wouldn’t do this, you should read the latest news on the problems with their current cd software and computers. Read about that Here
November 11, 2005 at 6:49 pm #133213BlG D0gMemberOk I will admit I am very one sided on this. The big N is not and never will be in the same class as PS. I have played XBox and ps2 and I have come to the comclusion that if the player dosnt care about grafics and quality then they should go with the xbox. But I have been playing ps for years and yes it is for one game SOCOM, I bought my first ps system for SOCOM 1, then SOCOM 2 came out and wow now we have SOCOM 3 and it is so much better. Nentendo, XBOX and Playstation all have there good points. I just feel that playstation is the best for me so that is what i have. I would have to see some major improvements in xbox and nentendo for me to change and I think that is the way people will be, if they have xbox they will stay with xbox and the same with nentendo. whoooraahh

Heh, Sony, if you care about PARTIES and GAME DAYS then you won’t do this. I mean, I expect to be able to bring some games to my bud’s house and play them. Not have to lug my giant PS3 over there.

If Sony does this, it will certainley be one of the biggest mistakes they have ever made. -
