3.1 only because Microsoft has fixed all of the problems with it.

Are you joking? Not only is Windows 3,1 unstable, unreliable and nearly un-networkable, but MS fixed nothing, They moved on to 9X (32bit) and NT, they dropped it, not only is it useless, outdated and insecure, but it never was good, and never will be.

I didn’t like ME, it wasn’t great. Then I decided to go for XP, to be fair, its a very good operating system, nice and stable (for me at least) and SP2 adds more to an already good OS.
I totally agree it is a more updated look and it is easier to go through the Control Panel you get little icons I love it and SP2 makes it awesome.

Also, just because Longhorn has things like that sidebar (which is also available as an independent program you can get for XP called Desktop Sidebar) doesn’t mean its fancy and all that. You cannot list a windows product that is set to come out in 2006 as the best of its kind.

Don’t those mean the same thing in Microsofts books?
ME was the best version of windows I remember as long as you had <=256MB of RAM, it was the only version of the OS that gave me warning as when it was going to crash.March 16, 2005 at 7:28 pm #38520gossipingraeMemberi said XP, b/c that is what i have, and it does not give me problems.
March 16, 2005 at 10:36 pm #38492DJHyperbyteMemberI’ve just formatted my laptop after doubting for a month or two. I used to run Windows XP, but when that started to run so slow that even my old computer running Windows 2000 was faster than my brand new laptop running Windows XP, I decided to format and start over.
The only reason there was XP on the laptop, by the way, is because it came with it. Windows 2000 all the way! And hey, it may be a bit older, but at least it doesn’t complain I need updates, need to enable a firewall, need a virusscanner, need to clean up my desktop, need to check the recycle bin, need to send an error report to Microsoft immediatly when it crashes and, of course, need to reboot after every thing I do.
March 18, 2005 at 1:52 am #38526MrEggsaladParticipantI said Windows 2000 becaues that was my favorite OS. 95 and 98 always got messed up somehow and XP has SP 1&2 and they just messed up my computer. So if I think about it….then Windows 2000 is the only one that acutally worked right.
