OK Jon has asked me to thro this past ya. He cant get signed in on messenger or into chat from yahoo.com even, He can sign in to My Yahoo and can sign in and check his mail! What could be going on? Someone blocking him from messenger and chat? This is just something with his ID cuz I have tried mine just after him on his computer and mine here at home! He also has a 2nd ID and it can sign in NP! OK I know your gonna say “more info please” lol here it is. When he puts in his ID and password and clicks log-in on messenger it pops up the box saying “Please select ‘Try Again’ and make sure your ID and PASSWORD are entered correctly”. If you have forgotten your ID or PASSWORD select ‘Login Problems’. When he goes thru yahoo.com to get into chat it starts to go then says “you have been disconnected from chat”. We have tried several time in the last few days. Like I said we know his ID and PASSWORD are correct he can sign in to My Yahoo and to Yahoo Mail! ANY IDEAS?

July 9, 2002 at 5:12 am #67927freedokMemberI have the same problem after chatting with a hacker. Cant undue what he did. I think he used the bluescreen booter 2 program to cause this problem.

Here are a few things to try, though I don’t have an iron-clad solution:
Login using the Java version of Yahoo Messenger. If this works, there might be something screwed up with his configuration of Yahoo Messenger on that computer.
Change your Yahoo password associated with the account. I’ve heard cases where this cleared up similar problems.
Uninstall and reinstall Messenger. I know, I know… a lazy solution, but often solves many problems.
Try accessing the account from another compatible IM. Trillian is a good choice.
Apart from these things, I’m not sure what to suggest. You could try contacting Yahoo support, but I’ve NEVER heard back from them anytime I’ve tried that.
Keep us posted.

We had already done the 1st two things you spoke of and the 3rd wont help as we have tried to get him signed in the Yahoo messenger on several computers. We will try Trillian, but I dont see it working as its something with his ID. He did contact Yahoo and they did respond with that does not seem to be a valid ID. BUT like I had said he can pull up his personal “My Yahoo” homepage and get into his “Yahoo Mail” and use it!!!! SO I dont understand Yahoo’s responce.
We will let you know what happens when we try Trillian.

July 10, 2002 at 2:11 am #67926snugleupagainstMemberOK we tried Trillian, what we get on it is “A connection using this name already exists. If you wish to reconnect, please right click the existing console window and do so. Ok we did this and Trillian shows him online then offline then online then offline. I clicked the side drawer and clicked the lil’monitor icon, it shows
***You have successfully connected to Yahoo! Messenger.
***Unknown Service: 84.
***Lost connection to Yahoo! Messenger (couldn’t get header)! Error code 0.It does that over and over and over…………………….forever!!

July 11, 2002 at 10:47 pm #67922DaveMemberSounds to me like you need to clear your cookies and temporary internet files and reinstall messenger. Change your password first before you do this. Do not log in again until you have cleared all your cookies and temp internet files and reistalled messenger.
I have also encountered this problem and solved it in this manner.
I have 6 Yahoo! profiles and was only able to sign in on one. Sometimes the problem is caused by having too many i.d’s logged in at once on the same computer. I only sign in on one account at a time now and sign out fully before before trying to sign in with another i.d. I have not had the same problem since I have started doing this.
I suspect that certain log in information is stored on a cookie (or possibly one of the *.js files or HTML documents stored in the temporary internet files folder is causing the multiple i.d login problem) and that cookie is checked by the Yahoo! servers causing other login attempts with differing i.d’s to fail.
I also suggest that you take a look at this topic: https://bigblueball.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=663

July 17, 2002 at 5:12 pm #67928maskyMemberHi Snuggle,
Well i had the same problem. I tried the following and it worked. Hope this might help. Look for that particular yahoo userid’s messenger files in this folder C:Program FilesYahooMessenger. Look for that userid.ab file and delete it (Can you also delete all the stored IMs on ur pc). Then uninstall yahoo messenger and reboot your pc. And then reinstall yahoo. I did this and it worked for me. Hope this helps. Let me know if it worked.-Masky
September 12, 2002 at 12:37 pm #67929guidemeMemberYes I have the same problem and it is driving me batty. It CANT
be anything at the client (PC) end, as it doesnt work on other PCs either!!. I installed the latest yahoo IM on a totally separate pc that has never had any IM’s on it, and you can log the profile in to my.yahoo, members.yahoo etc, but not yahoo instant messenger!!. New profiles work ok. Also, watch the pings to cs7.chat.yahoo.com etc.. I can ping the yahoo chat servers, but then when I log in now, after about 2 mins, I get booted, and I loose all pings to all the yahoo chat servers!!. (even if I was in a room with nobody else in it!!!) Other yahoo servers are fine, just not the chat ones. Its like yahoo are blocking my IP for being a VICTIM of a booter
FYI this is a list of the yahoo chat server ips. Get a multi IP pinger like Morten’s HostAlive from download.com and watch!!

Kyrian post this question on the Trillian Forum for better help, but I dont believe there is a way to Yahoo Chatrooms from Trillian.
